DHARMA'S APPOINTMENT.

1774, SEPTEMBER 22nd THURSDAY 7:00pm.

By the time Milkman signed the last paper, it was evening. Almost 7:00pm in fact... And he hadn't even had lunch yet. With a thud, the side of his head hit the table.

"Ohh God... In the name of good calcium. Let it be done. PLEEEASE let it be done."

He was exhausted. This wasn't the first time he overworked himself, and he knew it wouldn't be the last. That last person was absolutely draining. How can someone be so rude and simultaneously demand help. Raising his head, Milkman looked at the small pile of property damage forms. His eye twitched.

"I never want to see another insurance claim ever again," he grumbled.

He picked up another paper and read it over.

"Almost done. One last meeting... June Sanctus."

The door opened. Milkman raised his tired eyes; willing his head to follow shortly after. Melody stood in the doorway with an annoyed expression. Milkman sighed and tried to muster what scraps of patience he had left. If he had to take a guess-

"Why are YOU doing Raptorman's job... AGAIN?!"

Yep. He hit the nail on the head.

"Do you WANT to burn yourself out? You idiot!" She said, "Then what use will you be. Learn to say NO! Dumbass."

Milkman closed his eyes and took in a deep breath. Then he opened them.

"Something important came up." Milkman said, "He asked me to postpone them, but I offered to handle it for him."

Melody rolled her eyes. "You can't keep doing stuff like this. You're gonna crash and burn."

Milkman averted his gaze, but it didn't stop Melody'sfrustrated sigh from reaching his ears. He knew, in her own mean way, she wasworried. Even if she would never admit it. Probably not even to herself.

"Why do you go so far for him?"

Melody's tone had softened a bit. It was now more calm and controlled.

"I owe Raptorman this much. He's done so much for me." Milkman said, "It's the least I can do to repay him... Besides, this time... Whatever came up, seemed unusually important to him."

Melody stared at him for a long while.

"Yeah, sure. Unusually important." She muttered, "Fucking cuck."

Milkman's gaze snapped back to her. He was beginning to feel slightly annoyed. From the glare she gave back, with a twitching brow, it was evident she felt the same. Then Melody turned her head to the hall.

"Anyways, your last appointment is here."

"Last one, thank God."

"There is no God." Melody whispered under her breath.

He chose to ignore her.

Then he saw her grimace. Why did she grimace? Melody doesn't grimace. Melody's gaze turned to him and it was sympathetic. MELODY! SYMPATHETIC! Milkman suddenly felt a cold pit in his stomach. Melody took a step aside as what appeared to be a female police chief entered the room.

The room was silent as this woman stood proud; as if her authority was absolute. Without blinking, Milkman stared at her for about five seconds. Closed his eyes for ten. Then reopened them. His expression stayed calm and blank. Internally he was screaming.
