THE PARTY.

1774, NOVEMBER 27th SUNDAY 3:00 pm.

Deep within the bowels of a subway station, a man in a yellow rain jacket that went down to his hips and rubber yellow boots that went up to the mid of his thigh stood watch over the darkened tunnels. The girl with silver hair and three horizontal eyes gave the yellow man a thumbs up.

"Alrizz Raven – it'z all clear," she shouted.

"Good work Falcon," he said.

A portal in the shape of a sewing thimble appeared before the girl.

"Zee you in a few hours," She took a few steps towards the rift in space. "Oh... And zay zafe."

Raven nodded – Falcon teleported away. He sighed, held up a phone, and hit call.

"I'm all set... Let's get this party started."

Elsewhere, Noche found herself lost in a forest.Deeper and deeper into the woods she went – a clearing appeared before her.Entering the open space, she stood before a massive factory that was old andabandoned. The doors were rusted and slightly ajar, she walked right into thepitch-black room.

From the infinite darkness that was the floor, an arm reached up and grabbed her. The door slammed shut and liquid brushed against her ankles. Tar was filling the floor – unseen children began singing.

"Watch out for crows, hide in the light, or Creeps will get you in the night. It'll eat you up and when you're dead, it'll go and eat you once again."

Their laughter echoed about as the room filled with tar; Noche banged on the windows. Despite her incredible strength, the glass would not break. Tar cascaded into her mouth and eyes – the last thing she saw before blackness overtook everything were the words it killed me carved into a tree.

Noche woke up in a cold sweat.

"That's a real place," she whispered. "I've seen that tree before... I know it. That has to be a real place."

Her eyes lingered on the clock – they floated towards the sapphire dress Cherries had made for her.

"The holiday party," she muttered. "Should I even go?"

She threw off her blankets and began her exercises. After months of pushing herself to the limit, Noche had become much stronger than her classmates – stronger than even the average Cross soldier.

Her insane schedule of using every free moment to train had finally paid off. The girl who was once a stick now had rippling muscles, bulging biceps, and a chiseled six-pack. From twig to spartan... Being honest with herself, she thought she was pretty hot.

Hours later, Noche finished her thousandth one-arm push-up from a handstand position. The two weights that hung on her legs, each weighing one hundred pounds, hit the floor as she sat down.
