JACK'S INFANT YEARS.

1755, JUNE 21st.

Long... Long ago, far in the past, a pregnant woman sat surrounded by DeathTech doctors.

"Push Mrs. Chandler!"

She screamed as her beet red face became even darker. The cry of a newborn child soon filled the room of the underground hospital.

"Congratulations Mrs. Chandler, it's a boy."

A mother held a newborn baby.

"Jack." She said, "His name will be Jack Chandler."

Years later, the newborn was a small child. His mom gave him a small cardboard box; without wrapping or ribbons. He removed the lid to see a pair of white safety goggles within.

"Happy birthday Jack." The mom said, "These were your fathers."

"OH WOW! Thanks mom!"

The next day, Jack started his first day of DT kindergarten. Making new friends, he showed off his goggles.

"Isn't it cool?!" Jack shouted, "They're just like sunglasses."

"You're not supposed to lie!" A kid said.

"Lie?! I'm not!"

"Yuh-huh! Sunglasses aren't real because there is no sun!" The kid said, "My mom said so!"

"The sun is real!"

"No it isn't! There's only DIRT!" His classmate said, "There is no surface and there is no sun!"

When they're argument got too loud, the teacher hit them both with a metal ruler stick.

"Jack, listen to your classmate." The teacher said, "In my forty years of life, I've never seen the surface or this sun."

"But my mom seen it. She's FROM the surface."

"Your mom is delusional. She was born underground like the rest of us. THERE IS NO SUN!" The teacher said, "I'll have no more talk of such fantasy!"

The teacher put both students in time out.

"You're a liar."

"No I'm not... The sun is real."

"Oh yeah... Prove it."

"Fine... I will... I'll go see it." Jack said, "I'm gonna go see the sun."
