VIDA AND THE KID.

1774, SEPTEMBER 27th TUESDAY 2:57pm.

A thud reverberated from the vault door; mafia members all stopped what they were doing.

"She's here! SHE'S HERE!"

"Erey-bady! Tah yur battle stations!"

"There's no way she can break through dat!" One said. "Da door weighs 100,000 pounds. It'd take an entire squadron of Cross soldiers to move it!"

A dent appeared on the vault door as a boom echoed throughout the secret base.

"Well what da FUCK do you call that!"

Another dent sent thunder throughout the lair.

"She can't be that strong! SHE CAN'T!" Another said. "She's only one person! How can she be so powerful!"

Various red dots appeared on the vault door from the lasers of hundred of guns. A yellow spot welled up in the middle of the steel slab as a red ring circled around it. The vault door began to melt; a pimple of white slag began to bubble. Fire as big as a volcano eruption exploded into a horizontal column from the vault door.

A red figure walked through the molten hole and bullets rained in her direction. The wall of fire that appeared turned the bullets to ash and magma before they had a chance to reach the woman on the other side. From the flames stepped out the blind girl with her wicked grin. Vida stood before the largest mafia base she had discovered thus far. An underground base that dwarfed the previous one.

RATATATATA!

"Ohhh?" Vida grinned as bullets came flying towards her.

Both of her scarred, bandage hands moved in a blur. The firing stopped and Vida held up both hands as if to surrender. She dropped dozens of bullets. BOOM! Vida caught the tank missile with one hand. Its fire flared like an angry bull, waving the missile all over the place, as it stayed clenched in Vida's fist. When its propulsion died down Vida held the missile above her head like a trophy.

She threw the missile at her feet and it exploded. Even from the distance of a hundred feet the shockwave knocked some mafia onto the floor. Smoke obscured the area where Vida stood, but it couldn't hide her laughter. Vida stepped out of the embers utterly unharmed and laughing manically.

"Who amongst you can kill me?" She grinned and stretched her neck. "Come on, this is the biggest den yet. Someone here should be strong enough to kill me."
