BLOODIED JOURNAL.

1774, SEPTEMBER 24th SATURDAY 8:13pm.

Noche stood just outside Cherries open door; warm golden light flooding the cold, dark, blue hallway.

"I'm just saying, an anorexic person shouldn't starve themselves to death." Cherries said, "Your Augment makes you stronger than a normal person, but you are much weaker than the average Create User."

"Hey, I'm eat plenty of PBJs man," She said, "cut me some slack."

"It'd suck if you suddenly became allergic to peanuts." Cherries said.

"It'd suck if you suddenly became allergic to dicks." Noche replied.

They both chuckled.

"Do you want me to walk you to your room?"

"... Nah... It's cool man." She said, "Look I'll see you tomorrow, ok?"

"You got it," He said, "Peace out Noche."

"Peace."

Cherries closed the door and Noche stood alone in the abyssal hall

Cherries closed the door and Noche stood alone in the abyssal hall. With the door closed, the torrential rain and howling wind drowned out all other noise... The hallway lights were off, probably due to the weather, so what illumination came was from outside. Which was a weak dim blue-gray ambient light.

Noche had spent all day studying in Cherries room. She couldn't believe how late it had gotten. All Saturday spent studying... Man. She would've laughed at the silliness of it all, if she didn't feel THAT DESERT creep its way towards her. As her spine tingled, she shook her head.

"Pass the exam. I just got to pass the Cross entrance exam." Noche thought, "Then I'll escape that desert."

Noche froze when goosebumps appeared on her skin. Herhead scanned about, but the hall was empty. Yet the chilling tingle that randown her spine remained.

"Maybe... I should have taken Cherries up on that offer to walk me to my room." She thought, "There... Sure have been a lot of storms occurring recently."

Noche made her way towards the corner and saw the window up ahead. The storm outside had nearly turned black... And the silence felt... Wrong. She knew the rain was so loud, it just sorta muted itself out... But it really did sound more like the kind of silence that results from the absence of... Well everything.

Yet, at the same time, Noche felt at ease... This sort of darkness... This sort of storm... Somehow, it matched her. She couldn't explain it, but watching the storm... The looming, eerily quiet, promise of destruction it held. It made her feel one and the same. Noche shook herself out of her trance and walked, carefully, around the corner of the hall.

As she approached her door, she started to experience headaches. The world around her appeared to twist surreally. Then she heard a caw and she looked down. A crow sat on the floor, staring up at her. She blinked, not sure if she saw it correctly, and it turned out she didn't. For it turned out what was on the floor was a book. She must have kicked it and misheard the noise due to the storm.

Leaning down she picked it up. It appeared to be a journal, and it was covered in blood. Noche looked around and saw no one nearby. Then she looked down the open hall towards the library. Somehow, it was even more pitch black than the storm outside. One of the largest rooms in all of the Cross HQ... In pitch blackness. Noche took one look at it and made her decision.

"Nope... Fuck that." Noche muttered, "I'll take it back in the morning."

A bit unnerved, she opened the door to her room quickly, closed it, locked it, and finally threw the journal on the table. She undressed and put on her lighthouse themed pajamas, then slowly got into bed.

"The day after tomorrow is the exam... Basically one day left... One day to prepare." Noche sleepily muttered, "I have to pass... Have to pass... Pass."

Despite her anxieties from the stormy night, she eventually fell asleep.

Noche dreamt she sat on a beach, staring up at the stars. Then that desert came... It turned everything into sand... Into nothingness. Noche stood, she walked backwards and bumped into something. Instinctively, she slowly looked up. Looming over her was a creepy malformed monster. She saw endless rows of razor sharp teeth surround her head. Noche couldn't react.

Her eyes shot open as she lunged upwards. Noche was drenched in cold sweat. She could feel that desert approaching. Even in the waking world... That desert was approaching. Noche took in a deep breath. The exams began tomorrow... She had to pass to escape that desert... She had to pass the Cross entrance exam. Yet one word rang over and over in her sleep deprived mind.

Failure.

You are a failure.

Noche tried to suppress this inner voice. She laid back down and tried to will herself to fall back asleep... She failed
