I woke up alone, but the empty space Avi was lying in was still warm. Where did he go? He couldn't have gone far after the night we had.

"No!"

I slowly stood up and made my way to the bathroom groggily. The door was just slightly cracked, but the light wasn't on. I pushed the door open to a horrid sight I'd hoped I wouldn't have to see.

Avi was sitting in the corner, clutching a small orange bottle and crying into his knees as he hugged them close to him. The uneven rises and falls of his back as he sobbed broke my heart. I grabbed a fist full of Avi's shirt that I stole for nightwear.

"Avi?"

He jumped at the sound of my voice and slowly lifted his tired and tear soaked face to mine. He looked so broken and small. I wanted nothing more than just to pick him up and leave his depression behind like a stain on the floor we could clean up later. I got down on the floor with him. He pushed his hand towards me.

"Go away."

"No." I grabbed the prescription bottle from his hand and intertwined our fingers. Avi's eyes were closed off and dark. It was almost like we'd started over. I felt a familiar sinking feeling before sharing his pain. I pulled him into my arms and held his head against my shoulder. He fought against me, but I held on. He continued to struggle until his crying made it impossible. He grabbed onto me tight, pulling me into his lap and rocking back so I was on my knees leaning over him. I stroked his hair and kissed the top of his head. He was pulling so hard against my shirt I thought he'd rip it. I stood up, pulling him up with me. I lifted his eyes to mine and wiped his tears with my thumbs. He took in another hitched deep breath and returned my gaze.

"I won't let it hurt you."

"Please don't leave."

"I won't."
