Why the hell am I up against a slime ball of all things? This thing can split into a million copies of itself if it wants to, it swallows everything including people, and it doesn't really seem to have a weakness. I go up and down the streets finding people to get out of town when I run into someone I wish I didn't have to see right now. Hightide. He looked me up and down and gave me a nod before running off to do what I'm assuming was the same thing I was. That felt like a punch to the gut. I got the last of the people in my area when I try to find some of the other heroes that I'm on better terms with. I entered the park to find Dolostone and Cyclone talking. "Hey guys, you guys coming up with a game plan?" I asked and they gave me a look that says not really. "If that's not what you are talking about then what are you middle school girls talking about?" I asked and they both just looked at me. I sighed and walked closer. "Fine don't tell me, but your gossiping can wait. We need to figure out what this thing is capable of and fast!" I said sternly and they gave me a sympathetic look. "It can literally swallow anything. It has a few buildings, road signs, and even a few people," Dolostone said and I immediately froze. "Don't worry Mrs paranoid. They are fine. They're in some kind of coma and each person has its own protective bubble it looks like," Cyclone said and that got me thinking. Whoever is in control of these monsters doesn't want to hurt anyone. Then what's the point of all of his if they don't want to hurt people? "Well got any ideas?" Dolostone asked and I shook my head. "I think we need to find Hightide before we come up with a plan. Where is he? I passed him while getting some people out of town, but haven't seen him since. You guys know where he went?" I asked and they shook their heads. "No idea where he is, but when I passed him he looked butt hurt," Cyclone said. Fuck. Is he still mad about what I said? I didn't mean it. I really didn't. "As rude as this sounds, emotions can wait. This thing is a major threat and it needs to go," I said and they slowly nodded their heads. I guess we can just fill him in when we figure it out. "Could I crush it with a few boulders?" Dolostone asked and I shook my head. "If you crush it, it will multiply and I think that is the last thing we want. If I could just use my fucking powers!" I cursed out and the boys gave me a sympathetic look. "It's fine, let's come up with something else," I said resting my head on my hand. "We need to contain this thing before it causes more damage. Maybe we can get Hightide to empty a section in the river, then one of us stands in the section as bait. Once it can't get out, Dolostone, you can create rock walls outside the river so it can't just walk back out," I said and they nodded along. "Is there a point to Hightide clearing the section of the river if Dolostone crates a barrier anyway?" Cyclone said and I rolled my eyes. "Of course. It won't just willingly go into a river with flowing water. If Hightide clears an area then it thinks it's just going to another part of land," I said and he let out an audible 'oh' to confirm he understands. "Now there is just one problem with that plan," Dolostone said and I gave him a tilted head. He let out a sigh of what seemed to be defeat. "We have no idea where Hightide is," As soon as that statement we heard a huge crash. We look over to see the slime creature absorbing more town property and a shattered window a couple of stories off the ground. Hightide must have been hit really bad. "That must be Hightide. I'll go see if he is OK, you guys hold that thing down somehow," I said and I quickly swung my way to Hightide. I got closer and closer to the building and it seems there was more damage the closer I got to it. I got to the opening of the destroyed window and I started looking around. "Hightide!" I shouted and I got no response. "Hightide! You better answer me right now!" I shouted. Then I heard a very loud groan coming from a pile of insulation and drywall. "Hightide!" I ran over to the pile of destroyed building and started digging through the pile. I finally see a familiar hand with a water logo. I kept digging to where I would assume his face is. I'm throwing more rubble behind me until I finally see a blue mask. I keep throwing rubble behind me so I can see more of him."Hightide! Say something, anything!" I shouted, giving his face a couple light slaps. His eyes open and when he looks into my brown eyes a smile is formed on his face. "Are you OK?" I asked and he let out a quiet chuckle. "You really should be helping the others, they need you," He said and I let out a scoff. "I'm not leaving until you say you're OK," I said in a panicked voice. I look him up and down to see small wounds on his shoulders with a few glass shards in his skin. "Sparky, I'll be fine," he said. I gave him a look even though I did like his little nickname. "You will fix everything, and I will be as good as new," He said and now that I knew he was fine I did something he well deserved. I slapped him a little harder on the cheek. "What were you fucking thinking going against that thing on your own! Were you asking for a death wish?!" I shouted and only another chuckle came out of his mouth. "I was trying to weaken it for your plan. I didn't think you wanted to see me after what I said. So I kept my distance and went off to weaken it myself," he said and I gave him a sympathetic look. "I would rather put up with you for a couple minutes than see you face that thing on your own with a great chance of death! I would like to think you would know that," I shouted and he laughed. "Relax I'm still alive, that's all that matters right?" He asked and I sadly agreed with him. "My plan really needed you, what am I going to do with you out of commission?" I asked and he gave me a look saying he had an idea, and I was scared. "Take my ring," He said and my eyes went wide. "Are you kidding me? Couldn't do that. I would see who you are and I think that would put us in great danger. Plus I can't use my powers with the necklace I have now, what makes you think I would be able to use yours?" I asked and he nodded. "Give it to the person who doesn't have the bigger responsibility in your plan. If Dolostone does more work then give it to Cyclone and visa versa," Hightide said and I slowly nodded. "But I will still see who you are. I don't want to risk it," I said and he started to get up. I helped him stand and I walked him away from the pile of rubble he was once under. I get a better look at him and it doesn't seem as bad as I thought. Just a few wounds the size of an eraser. "Turn around," he said. I slowly turned around and looked at the skyline. I could also see Cyclone and Dolostone doing their best to hold that thing down. "I'm going to de-transform so do not turn around," he said and I nodded. I heard his hero self fade and then I heard something I never thought I would hear. "You numbskull! How could you let yourself get hurt like this! Now you have temporarily given me up because of your idioticness!" I heard. I think that's Poseidon. "Poseidon, relax. Sparks will take good care of you and the person she gives you too will use your powers wisely," Hightide said. If I turned around I could see who this is. This is killing me. It is so easy to figure out who my maybe other crush is if I just turn around. I decide against that so I'm not a dick. I suddenly only hear one voice behind me. Hightide must have taken the ring off. I hear footsteps coming up behind me and an audible gulp is heard from me. I'm looking at my feet when two strong arms wrap around my shoulders and collarbone. I immediately look up so I don't see the sleeves in case I recognize them. Hightide drops the ring in my hand as he places a kiss on the back of my head. I felt my cheeks rise in temperature and my legs wet slightly wobbly. Over one kiss on the head, really? Get a hold of yourself Sam. "You know I'm apologizing when you come back right?" I heard him ask and I nodded my head against his chest while letting out a chuckle. "Are you able to walk fine on your own?" I asked and I heard him say he was, which is very hard to believe after what he has been through."To get your ring back, meet me at the big tree in the park. You go on the side facing the fence where no one should see you then I'll give it to you then. I will also be in civilian form so no one is suspicious of a superhero in plain sight," I said and he agreed. "Sounds like a plan," he said and I sadly got out of his grip. Without turning around I say goodbye and I'm on my way to see Cyclone. I swing away, still insanely tempted to look at the other boy I like, but I again decided against it. I don't need to end this boy's whole superhero career. As I'm heading back I keep thinking about that kiss. I don't know what it is about it, but it seemed so sweet. Like he really cared more than what he leads me to believe. Or I'm overthinking, I have no clue I catch up to the two boys and the slime ball and try to get Cyclone's attention. "Cyclone get your ass down here! Dolostone, hold it off!" I shouted. Cyclone's head immediately wipes around. I signal to meet in the alley. I watch him run closer as I find a spot in the alley where you can't see us from any angle. "What's up Sparks?" he asked and I sighed. Here goes nothing. "Put Hightide's ring on," I said and his eyes went wide. "Is he dead!" He shouted and I slapped his arm. "Oh, cool your tits of course he's fine, but he is out of commission to fight. Since I need Dolostone's power more than I need yours you need to take off your chain and put the ring on," I said and he looked skeptical. "You will find out who I am," he said and I rolled my eyes. "I'm not going to look. Geez. i didn't look at Hightide and I won't look at you OK?" I asked and he nodded his head. Cyclone signaled me to turn around and I obeyed his request. The brightness blinded my peripheral vision. They need to fix how bright transformations are. I shouldn't be blinded even when I'm turned around. "Hey champ, so we ready to go home and eat or what?" I'm assuming that was coming out of Aeolus' mouth. "Not exactly, you are going with Sparks and I'm taking Poseidon for a bit," he said and I started tapping my foot. "Can we hurry this along? Dolostone is probably really pissed off we aren't helping him," I said, and annoyed sighs were heard from both parties behind me. "Chill out fire lady we are getting there," Aeolus said. I shook my head and suddenly a hand appeared beside my head. Without moving my head I take the chain and replace it with the ring. I wrapped the chain around my whip since I don't have pockets and if I put it on I would Aeolus would appear and I don't exactly have a place to put him. When I imagined this I should have put giant pockets on it.I assumed he put it on when I heard Poseidon losing his shit. "OK, listen up 'cause we don't have much time. You got the power of water, duh. You can manipulate water and create water by moving molecules in the air. You can use water for travel, and your weapon is my trident. You can use it to stab things and all that shit, Got it? Good. Now to transform, use the same words you would with Aeolus, but replace his name with mine. Now hurry up, we got shit to do," Poseidon said. Man, and they call me a worry nut. After that all I heard was "Posiden, give me strength,"
