All I saw was darkness. It wasn't dreadful, but it was peaceful. It was something I could definitely stay in for a very long time. Until I heard the dreaded beeping of my alarm clock. It was blaring as loud as ever, and I opened my eyes and saw it was 6 o'clock in the morning. Great. I have to go start getting ready for a dreadful Monday. I hurry to the shower and strip down to get in. The cold water hit my back and got me to wake up a little more. I wash my hair and put a towel around myself and head to the sink to brush my teeth and hair. With my teeth as white as they will ever get, I head to my closet and see what I got to wear. I see my favorite white Mario tank top with spaghetti straps, and black sweat pants and put them on. I see my black running shoes and tie them up along with my blonde hair in its signature ponytail. I head downstairs and check the time and see, it's ten to seven. That is enough time to get breakfast and catch the bus at quarter after seven. I go to the fridge and see a note from my parents.

Sam,

Your dad and I had to leave early this morning for another business trip to Detroit. I made you some breakfast as a sorry for leaving without you knowing. We will hopefully be back in a week or so. Don't get into too much trouble and I might bring you something :)

Love,

~Mom.

Well, I'm not exactly surprised. My parents are always so busy with work and go on so many trips it doesn't surprise me anymore. I'm not mad or anything, but it wouldn't hurt to be together more often and spend time together. That is the main reason why my brother went to college out of state. He was tired of them never being home and spending time with him. He had football games when he was still in high school, around my age, and they never came because they would be out of town or they were at the office. I don't hate it as much as he does because I understand they do it for us to be happy. I would rather have a roof over my head and clothes on my back then spending all the time in the world with them with nothing. It also is the only reason he got to college. They are paying for his education. I would think he would be more grateful than that. Enough of my brother, I finish my breakfast and go off to the bus stop 'cause I am lucky enough to have a bus instead of walking. I stand at the stop waiting for the yellow bus I have been riding for so many years and then hear a yell in the distance. "Sam!" the voice screamed. I look over in a panic and see my best friend Ellie. Ellie and I have only been friends since we started high school together with all the same classes, but it always feels like we have known each other since diapers. Ellie frantically runs over to me and starts panting like a dog. " What happened?" I questioned. She caught her breath and looked at me with sad eyes. " Emma transferred into our math and tech class." she said. I look at her wide-eyed. "You're joking right?" I asked with little hope. Emma was known for being transferred because the teachers didn't want to put up with her. Ellie only shook her head and I sighed. "She has been in my class almost every year since grade one." I said with frustration. Ellie looked at me with pity. "Girl I have no clue how you put up with her for so long. She is the worst." Ellie said with a chuckle. I growled and she backed off. We saw the dreaded yellow bus stop in front of us and got to our normal seat. As normal it was loud 'cause kids don't behave and everything. Ellie and I have figured out that all the loud kids sit at the back so they get away with more trouble so we have always sat in the front seat since freshman year, and have done the same thing all the way until now, in our Junior year. Ellie turns to me with a giant grin on her face. I look at her in confusion and she finally answers the question in my mind. 'What in the world is she smiling about?' I thought to myself. " Can you help me with the math homework that is due today?" she asks asked with embarrassment " You do know it's called homework for a reason right?" I said with a smirk. I cocked an eyebrow at her and she sighed. " I know, I know, but-" she paused. I knew what was coming. "- I was reading the latest issue of my favorite comics book series." I facepalmed. Every week on Monday Ellie needs help because she reads her updated as soon as it comes out on the weekend and then never gets her work done. She just has to read it as soon as she can. "Ellie every week you do this. Why is it so hard to do your homework first then read?" I questioned with disapproval. "As a fellow book reader, I thought you would understand." Ellie huffed. "The difference is I get my homework done on time with all the reading I want and all my soccer practices." I said in a duh tone. She looked at me with those eyes everyone knows and hates. I sighed and took out my homework and started helping her. She finally figured it out as we were stopped to get off the bus and go to school. We ran off to our lockers that are stupidly on the other ends of the school, based on last name I was all the way on the 'B' section for Brown. Ellie was all the way in the 'W' section for Waterbarry. Even with the distance, we manage to find each other before math starts and head to class together. By managing to find each other I mean I have all my stuff neatly organized so I find everything easily then meet Ellie at her locker cause she can't find crap in that black hole of a locker. I get my things and as I turn around I see a dreaded face I thought I didn't have to see for another ten minutes. Emma Franton. She is the one winning this 'popularity contest' of which we call high school. She along with her two minions Darcy and Penelope. This girl I swear wears lingerie to school with the most see-through white top on so she can show everything off and still somehow be in the dress code. She looks me up and down and smirks. 'Well what are they going to insult today' I wonder. " Well, well, well. If it isn't Mrs.Brown being the nerd she is. Do you wear anything other than geeky video game shirts?" she asked out loud. I stayed silent and tried to walk off. Emma walked out in front of me and gave me a stare. I looked at her with a questioning look. " First, no one walks away from Emma Franton. Second, don't try and act all tough, have you seen those noodle arms. Third answer the question." Emma said firmly as her minions nodded along with her speech. I looked at her and sighed. I just wanted today to be over, and it barely started. I tried walking away again and she laughed at my cowardness and let me by. Before I was out of earshot I heard her say. " She better stay away from the new boy. I was told he was cute." Well, I couldn't care less so she has nothing to worry about. She can flaunt her chest at him all she wants. I walked to Ellie's locker to find her frantically looking for her stuff. "Ellie are you done finding your stuff? It's almost Christmas." I said sarcastically. She growled and kept searching. "I'm looking for one of my favorite comic books to read. You know, the one where Sarah finds out her boyfriend is a superhero and all." She said frustrated. I sighed. Ellie is a superhero fanatic. She reads everything about superheroes and I swear knows everything there is to know about them. Of course, they aren't real, but her imagination runs wild when the conversation somehow goes to the topic of heroes and she says they could be out there. She is an imaginative one alright. "Don't you read that like every day?" I asked. She gave me a small smile to show I was right. I sighed in annoyance and looked at her "Look, I will help you find it later, but we need to go." I picked her up, closed her locker, and walked directly to math. We were walking down the hallway and saw Emma walking into our math room with some brown-haired boy. I paused to look at Ellie to see if she saw what I saw. We decided that we were going to avoid that drama for as long as we can so we walked a lap around the school before class. "I don't want to start off a Monday dealing with her twice in less of 10 minutes apart." I said. Ellie looked at me with a smirk. "Emma needs to find a better use of her time. Look on the bright side. She probably won't bother you again because she will be too busy with the new kid" She said with confidence in her guess. I shrug. Emma always finds time to pick on somebody. More likely me than anyone else. We were walking down and Ellie and I saw Steven and his group of friends. Steven looks me up and down, smirks, and gives me a wink. This is his usual routine. We see each other and he either hits on me or just stares like a creep. We are friends, but not super close like me and Ellie. You're probably wondering why I would be friends with a big creep like him. Steven actually helped a lot with bullies in the seventh grade and always made me feel better. We have been friends since he saved me from this kid named Chad. Chad almost landed a punch on me before Steven stopped him, and we have been friends ever since. Sure as we got older we realized we were complete opposites and found different friend groups, but we still have time to talk to one another on occasion. Plus his flirting doesn't go too far unlike some boys in my school so it isn't too bad. I would never admit this but some of his flirting is actually kind of smooth. Enough of Steven it's time to face the dreaded morning of math with our newest classmate. I walked into the math room and went to my usual seat and found someone in our seats. I walked up to them when Ellie was warning me not to. "Excuse me." I said firmly and Emma's head turned around. "Sam, scram this is me and Logan's seat now." she said with a smirk. I looked at her and didn't see anyone next to her and I have never heard of this 'Logan'. I said " One, I don't see or know this 'Logan' there isn't even a Logan in this class, and second this is my seat. You need to leave." I said calmly. Emma smiled evilly and said " What are you going to do about it?" she questioned with sarcasm. Yah. What am I going to do about it?
