"Harry!" Lacy cried out in excitement as she caught sight of one of her closest friends, who turned around to the girl with a grin instantly, before she tackled him in a hug. "How was your summer? I didn't get a chance to owl you much—especially while you were at your aunt's. Was anyone hurt in the Quidditch World Cup—oh! How's Mrs.Weasley"
"Lacy, calm down" Harry laughed at her rambling, and he pulled back from the hug so he could grab her shoulders to calm her down, she let out a huge sigh before smiling sheepishly. "Everyone's fine"
"Good" Lacy smiled again, her dimples and freckles revealing themselves brightly as she gleamed. And then she tilted to the side to see another close friend. "Hello Ron, did you have a nice summer?"
"It was great, Mum missed you" Ron explained shortly, giving her a kind yet awkward smile, but that was typical Ron behaviour.
Lacy tilted on her tip toes happily at the pair, "So, what are we doing this lesson? Has Hagrid said anything yet? I'm hoping for another hippogriff, it would be funny to see Draco run for the hills again"
Harry just smiled at the girl, she was always full of energy and wonder, he was often surprised that she never seemed tired, she just charged forward through the week, only taking Sunday mornings off to herself.
"A'right, today we'll be learnin ab'out thestrals" Hagrid announced to the group, as they stood in the Forbidden Forest yet again, and Lacy let out a gasp when she caught sight of the winged horses. "Now, who can see them?"
"They're beautiful, Hagrid" Lacy grinned as she saw them, and Ron sent her a look as though she was insane, just like her Slytherin friends who were leaning against a tree in the background, crossing their arms over in a mood.
"What are you looking at?" An Irish accent questioned, as he glanced between those who were staring out into the empty area.
"Thestrals are misunderstood creatures, that can only be seen by those who have watched-well, someone—ya know, pass" Hagrid tried to explain it delicately, and Lacy's blood ran cold as she watched the creature feed on a piece of meat that Hagrid through to it.
"You can see it?" Harry asked Lacy as she stared at them with wide eyes, he was immediately feeling empathetic for Lacy, as she had watched someone pass away.
"Yes" Lacy breathed out, stepping closer to them as she was intrigued by them. "Hagrid, is it safe to touch them?"
"You can if they will let ya" Hagrid responded, "now, thestrals are bone-like horses with wings, often hidden away from the world as a lot of people are usually too afraid to witness them, they're a reminder of—ya know"
Lacy held her hand out to one, leaning down slightly as it seemed to be younger, and it nuzzled it's head into her hand, causing her to smile sweetly at it. "I think they're great, Hagrid"
Lacy soon retreated back to the others, only for Blaise to pull on her hand and drag her over to his side gently, before he had his hand resting on her back, trying to comfort her to the best of his ability as she just sighed.
"This whole Tri-Wizard competition has everyone going insane" Lacy noted as she sat down with Pansy, watching a bunch of students place their names into the goblet of fire, cheers erupting from the crowd that had surrounded the area. "I mean, Charlotte has practically kidnapped Sylvia just because her group is in a huge fall out""Cedric's an idiot though, I agree with Taylor" Pansy scoffed, the argument between Cedric and Penelope had spread through the school, and most people agreed with Penelope, Cedric was being ridiculous and should hear his friends out.
"Me too" Lacy hummed, before she spotted a group of Hufflepuff's enter the room. "Uh-oh, I smell trouble"
"Taylor's over there with Wood" Pansy pointed over at the angry girl, who was watching Cedric's moves very closely, only to storm out of the room when he placed his name into the goblet.
"What is she doing?" Lacy questioned when they watched the Wood girl storm over to Cedric, screaming something at him before she ran after her friend. Lacy leaned back with a huff. "Glad our group isn't that dramatic"
"Theo owes me five galleons" Pansy responded, even though it had nothing to do with their conversation, before she leaned back as well. "So, are you going to explain what was going on in Magical Creatures, you could see those bone horses"
"I watched my father pass away when I was younger" Lacy explained shortly, before she sent Pansy a smile. "Hey, we should go meet up with the guys, who knows what state Theo has driven Draco to"
"Insanity" Pansy concluded, dragging herself up as she stood with a scowl, having gained a headache from everything going on.
