Ever year may seem different, but the one thing that doesn't change it the dates, the birthdays, the celebrations and....the anniversaries. The anniversary of her 'dad' had just happened to be that morning and this year seemed to be harder than any before, as it was viewed entirely different. All those years and years she had wasted mourning the loss of a dad, her dad, a father figure, someone who was supposed to be there and watch her grow up everyday. And now he wasn't even her dad.
The thoughts and mourning only consumed her further than ever, she was practically drowning in her head. She had hidden herself under covers and pretended to sleep until her roommates had left the quarters.
Then, she had dived out of bed and opened up a little shoebox that she had hidden in her trunk, forcing it open to view the contents inside. There lay the photographs she had saved of her family. The first one was more recent and was her and Sylvia sat laughing in the branches of a tree.
After flipping it over she had seen one of herself and Pansy under the same tree having a picnic, then there was the one of her and her 'dad' helping each other climb up the tree with the widest grins she had ever seen in her life. The worst one of them all was a picture of her mother, wrapped up with a jacket around her shoulders, her hand resting on a bump on her stomach.
Her parents had only started dating (what Lacy had recently found out) a few months earlier, and he didn't go against her because she was pregnant from another, instead, he saw it as a blessing so they could spread their love to another person and welcome them into the family.
He never had the option to spread much love when he was in the army, over the seas and only receiving the special moments by letter. In many ways, he was her father, even if he had died early on in her life.
She placed the letters down onto her bed and wiped away the tear that had streamed down her cheek, she hated the pain she had felt when she thought about him. She pulled out a denim jacket that belonged to her mother when she was in her youth and quickly pushed her arms through it to feel closer to her.
After buttoning it up, she popped the collar into he correct places before she tied her trainers onto her feet, she knew what would help her feel better in that moment.
"Lace!" Someone shouted at the trunk of the tree she had climbed, and she looked down in confusion at the almost unfamiliar tone, smiling when she saw Blaise stood at the bottom of the tree "I'm coming up!" He shouted, looking back to the trunk in front of him before he clumsily began to climb up the tree, ignoring the fact that his heart was racing like mad."What are you doing?" Lacy quizzed as she looked down at where he was making his way up carefully, he wasn't doing very well considering he looked like he was built for it, muscles and all.
"I didn't want to leave you alone" He responded with a slight grunt as he tired to get up further. "Bloody hell..."
"How did you know where I was?" Lacy tilted her head slightly, she was confused as to how he knew as she hadn't spotted another person nearby the entire time she had been there, which was quite a few hours, the view was amazing.
"You came here in the first year, as it was the first anniversary where you didn't have your mum with you" He recited, trying to grab on to another branch ahead of him. Lacy felt something stir in her before she decided to go down herself and meet him halfway up the tree. "What are you doing now?"
"Coming to you" Lacy responded as she climbed down to him with expert skill. "You seem to be struggling" She grinned for the second time that day, all because of him. "Hi" She greeted when she came to the same level as him, sitting down on a branch as he decided to stay stood and clinging into a thicker branch.
"Hi" He smiled gently at her.
