Severus Snape sat down in Dumbledore's grand chair as most of the students ate in silence, he had just announced the new teachers and a few new rules and now he had his close eyes on his daughter who was talking to a Gryffindor first year who had just been sorted, trying to get them to eat some food so they could calm down a bit.
She was the polar opposite of him, she reeked of life while he looked as though he hadn't left the house in years, wanting to be alone in a dark corner instead. She was adventurous, courageous and she would do anything for the good of others. Which is why he chose her as Head Girl, knowing that she'd want to help out as many as she could with Death Eaters roaming around the corners of the castle.
"Come on, why don't you try some of the stuffing? It's delightful" Lacy encouraged young Evan beside her, he sat there with a frown on his face that she just wanted to replace so badly with a smile. "When I first came here, my best friend wouldn't stop eating it, she had a teacher come and take it away from her because others wanted some too" Lacy replayed the story of Pansy eating the stuffing, making a small laugh erupt from the young child.
Lacy felt successful nonetheless and held out the stuffing for him to take some, which he quickly did as well as placing a few other things on his plate. She looked over to where Ginny was sat opposite her, receiving two thumbs up in return, maybe Lacy would be a good fit for Head Girl after all.
"So, is there reading a giant squid?" Evan's friend Taylor asked, she was so full of life and sugar, her eyes were wide as she kept firing questions at Brooklyn, who matched the girl energetic personality. Neville, on the other hand, was so confused by the pair but he just watched with a smile on his face.
"Yes" Brooklyn grinned cheekily, "he's massive and he's in the black lake next to the school"
"But he's friendly and he doesn't hurt anyone or anything" Lacy added on when she saw Evan looking scared, "he wont hurt any of you, don't worry Evan"
"How do you know that?" Evan asked in return.
Neville took over quickly as he remembered the fears he had in his first few years, "The squid actually helped me when I had fallen into the lake one time, if anything, he helps us all out" Evan seemed to untense at that, sending a smile to Neville before he started eating.
Lacy sent Neville a grin, he had really grown in the last few years and now he was helping others get rid of theirs fears, he was definitely one of the strongest people she knew.
"I believe that Prefects have to lead the first years, right?" Brooklyn questions as she pushed some of her food around on her plate.
"Yes, but they're the fifth year students" Lacy adds on, glancing at Evan's worried expression before she sends him an encouraging look. "Don't worry Evan, I'll walk with you so that you and Taylor aren't alone"
"Thank you" He nods, before he takes a spoon full of stuffing and shoved it into his mouth, his eyes widening in wonder as he looks at Lacy. "It really is amazing!"
"See? I told you" Lacy smiles gently, she was going to really like helping helping the younger kids this year, even if it was from death, she'd do anything to keep them safe and happy.
