"I'm still not sure about letting you guys back this year" Ruby Williams frowned as she placed down a plate full of buttered toast and scrambled eggs for Sylvia, who took it with a grin for the woman who had quickly become her mother figure.
"We have to go back, mum. I need to find out what these powers are and if I can use them to help people" Lacy brought up again, her uncle and Ruby mouthing the words in mockery that they had heard on repeat throughout the entire summer, Sylvia let out a small chuckle but hid it when Lacy's sharp eyes snapped over to her. "Besides, I'm switching houses anyway, so I won't be in any danger"
"Yeah, she's leaving the snakes" Sylvia stated in a playful manner on her face alongside a teasing smile, making Lacy nudge her back with a cheeky smile. "I'm going to be haunted by the fact I have the same last name and blood as Bellatrix"
"You're a Williams now, Sy." Lacy's uncle grinned over his crinkled newspaper from that morning, that he had placed up at his face, he lowered it slightly to show his genuine face. "Blood or not, you're family and we're proud to call you that"
Sylvia suddenly felt like a nerve had been hit, she hadn't felt welcomed anywhere other then Hogwarts, so the warmth that spread over her at the word 'family' was new to her and she didn't want it to wash away any time soon.
"So, as you're new sister..." Lacy trailed off as she looked at the toast Sylvia had left. "You wouldn't mind if I stole your food?"
Lacy went to grab the food only for her mum to smack her hand away and scold her about touching other people's food, making Zach and Sylvia snicker at the girls reaction. "Don't make me whack you too Zachery, I know you took the last bagel"
"How does she know?!" Zach hissed to Lacy and Sylvia when the woman had turned her back, the girls gave each other a knowing look before they fist-bumped about it. "I take it alllll back, you guys aren't getting the packed lunches I made for you"
"I made them" Ruby corrected as she began to clean up the table, giving the girls a gentle smile. "You better go upstairs and get ready, loves. We need to get down to the platform soon"
The girls nodded and said thank you for the email before they began to run up the stairs together, wanting to get to Hogwarts as quickly as possible, they loved the place and couldn't wait to see all their friends again.
"Have you thought about what you'll say to Blaise?" Sylvia asked halfway up the stairs, the pair had a late-night conversation one time while they were waiting to watch the sunrise on the roof, and Lacy had admitted that she had feelings for Blaise that she didn't know how to act on.
"No, and I don't think I should" Lacy gulped as they reached the top of the stairs, her nerves settling in slightly as she thought of the possible outcomes of this year. "We're on opposite sides of this all now"
Sylvia frowned at that and nodded in understanding, she knew that if this all fell down she'd after to go under hiding, while her girlfriend, Pansy, would be in the middle of the action on the other team without a choice in the matter.
It was unfair and cruel, but unfortunately, it was war.
