you sat on your bed trying to get back into your rhythm after being distracted from studying for a few minutes.

rintarou had been texting you between practices but you were always studying at the same time.

even though you had only met a week ago, you had grown rather close with each other. it seemed that you had a lot in common after all.

rintarou didn't have many friends because of his unconsciously intimidating demeanour, and of course, because he didn't want too many so it didn't bother him.

however, you were a wholly approachable person, yet still in the same situation friend-wise.

you had always thought that maybe you were just too boring compared to your brother.

rintarou seemed to have a soft spot for you though. you were the only person that he had gotten close to this fast. he had a few on and off flings, but this felt different. he hadn't even met you yet and he was being... nice.

you were helping tooru clean up the dinner table. your nightly studies were finished and you'd decided to help out with tooru's chores a bit.

"why are you so... uh... happy?" tooru asked.

it would sound like a weird question to any outside person, but at home you never really showed any emotion.

"what do you mean? am i not supposed to be happy?" you laughed softly in response.

"he has a point," your mom adds. "it's not a bad thing, we just haven't seen you like this very often."

you were debating whether or not you should tell them, but decided that it couldn't be that bad.

"i made a new friend," you mumbled.

"what was that?" tooru asked, leaning in closer, "something about-"

"i made a friend," you repeated, raising your eyebrows irritatedly.

"is she from our school?" tooru asked.

"my friend is from inarizaki in hyogo."
