narrator's pov.

you had gotten up to walk back to the park, and you opened your phone to check the time. "shit."

"what's wrong?"

"shit, shit, shit, what's on my neck??"

he looked at you confused, "a bug?"

"what? is there a bug on me???!" you swatted, "i'm talking about the fat HICKEYS, oh my god suna!"

"what do you think was gonna happen when you make out for an hour??"

"ohhh noooo, no no... how do we fix this?" you asked, almost shitting your pants looking at the bruises. "if my family finds out, i'm dead. i can't exactly see you again when i'm dead."

"you wanna see me again?" rintarou's eyes lighting up at the sentiment.

"that's not the point!"

he was too distracted to be any use to you, "no but like, yes right?"

you rolled your eyes and picked your phone up, searching for any way possible to fix your hickeys.

"owwwww, rintarou stop!"

"do you want it gone or not?"

"it HURTS, give me a minute," you blinked, tears welling in your eyes.

he bought a whisk to twist at your neck, so you were sitting outside a grocery store almost crying.

"it's working, you have to do it fast, y/n."

you remembered the reaction your family would give you if they caught the hickies.

"okay go," you told him, squeezing your eyes shut to brace yourself.

"well, thanks for not leaving any on me," he said. you just side eyed him.

the rest of the day wasn't so eventful.

after you thought all the hickies were gone, you sat and talked, walked around a bit more, then said your goodbyes and went to wait for the train to come.

"call me," he said.

"yeah, i will," you replied nonchalantly. "unless you call me?"

he looked around, "i'm trying to be nonchalant here."

you laughed, "i don't know if i'm into 'nonchalant'."

rintarou shrugged, "i guess i'll be calling you then."

"y/n! i'm glad you're back," your mom smiled from the dining table. she wasn't so much happy to see you as she was happy that you were safe.

"hi mom," you walked up to her and gave her a quick hug.

"did you go to a field or something? you have grass all in your hair," she pulled you back to grab the grass from your head.

"oh, yeah, we went to a park," you chuckled nervously.

"what else did you do in tokyo? you weren't with any boys or anything, right?" your mom spoke seriously.

"there were males around at public places i guess," you told her. technically, you weren't lying so you didn't feel so bad.

"hm. well, i hope you enjoyed your time - you're not going out there again unless you're paying for it with your own money."

"that's fair. thank you for letting me go today, mom."

"remember to finish off your chemistry assignment," she deflected, then looked back down at the newspaper sitting in front of her.

you walked upstairs with your legs feeling slightly heavy. you turned the corner to walk into your room, having to pass tooru's first.

his door was left open as always, and he noticed you moving past out of the corner of his eye.

"oh, y/n. how was tokyo?"

"it was alright, thank you for asking," you smiled before walking away quickly.

you were walking towards your room and your hair fell back. he could've sworn he'd seen something.

"y/n, come back," he called.

"yes, tooru?"

he thought he must've been imagining something, but then again, he thought that there was nothing wrong in making sure.

"can you come in?" he asked.

"yes?"

"move your hair back."

"pardon?" you smiled nervously.

"is that a hickey on your neck?"

"oh ew, tooru! why would i have one of those? that's so disgusting," you blurted out defensively.

"okay! you're right, sorry. i don't want you getting into that shit."

"you have literally nothing to worry about," you replied awkwardly. "thank you for the concern, but i probably just got bit by an insect or something. i have them on my shoulder and stuff too."

"oh, i see," he said.

"i knew someone was gonna say something about those! now everyone is gonna think i have hickeys all over me because of the stupid insects," you sighed.

"don't worry, it's barely noticeable," he told her.

"okay, thank you, tooru. i hope it doesn't worry you that much... or like... keep you up. and stuff."

you realised you were sounding off and overcompensating, and ran off back to your room.
