Hi guys!! This chapter is going to be a sad one, and the next is too, sorry. This one has a time skip, Eclipse and Sleet are now 9. Enjoy! (Also the pic is totally random I'm a quote person :)
Eclipse sat on a suntime platform, her wings spread. Soaking up the warm sunshine, she closed her eyes. She was waiting for Sleet, and decided to get a little sun while she could. The bright orange undersides of her wings seemed to glow when the sun hit them. A sudden cold appeared next to her, and she opened her eyes to see Sleet copying her. She shoved him and jumped off the platform, soaring down to the rainforest floor. Sleet followed, twining their tails along the way. He seemed excited, but also nervous. Eclipse walked towards the entrance to the Hollow, which had become a favorite spot of theirs. Sliding down into the underground room, she landed gracefully like she always did with a flourish of her wings. Even in the few years that had passed, nothing had changed much. Sleet was still landing on his nose when he slid down, and the two were still in love. Sleet managed to land on his feet, and he stayed up. Eclipse looked at him in surprise. He shrugged. He came and sat down next to Eclipse, twining their tails. She leaned into him, shivering slightly. "Why are your scales always so cold?" Eclipse asked. Sleet laughed. "I am an Icewing." He said. "But you spend most of your time in the rainforest!" Eclipse protested. Sleet looked at her. "Just because you're here." He said. She blushed. Sleet took a deep breath. "Hey, Eclipse." He said. Eclipse looked at him, catching his eye. "Yeah?" She replied. "You know I love you, right?" Eclipse nodded. "I love you too." She said. Sleet continued. "I love you more than anything else, and I want to love you forever." Eclipse gasped. "You mean-" She said. Sleet nodded. "You are the most wonderful dragon in the world, so I have to ask. Will you marry me?" Eclipse felt tears springing to her eyes. She didn't say anything for a long moment, then quietly whispered, "No." Sleet looked confused. Then he looked hurt. Eclipse felt hot tears slip down her cheeks. "I really want to." She said, reaching for Sleet's talon. "But I can't." Sleet jerked his talon away, not meeting her eyes. "Why not?" He asked quietly. Eclipse took a shaky breath. "I can't risk it." She said. "I can't risk our dragonets inheriting this horrible, terrible power that I have." Sleet looked at her, tears brimming in his bright eyes, that were now dull. He nodded slowly. "I understand." He said, and then he was gone. Eclipse sat down hard, wrapping herself in her wings and wishing she had Sleet there with her. "What have I done?" She said miserably to herself. A pair of wings wrapped around her comfortingly, and she turned hopefully. It wasn't Sleet, but her mother. Eclipse felt fresh tears form, and she collapsed into her mother's embrace. "I messed up." She said. "I really did." Sunburst stroked her daughter's head consolingly, whispering comforting words. Eclipse looked helplessly up at her. "Did I do the right thing?" She asked. Sunburst kissed her daughters head. "I think so." She said. She hugged her heartbroken daughter tightly, rocking back and forth. Endless tears slid down Eclipse's face, landing in a puddle on the floor. Sleet was flying as fast as he could back to the Ice Kingdom, scolding himself for falling in love with a Rainwing. He really had loved her though, and he still did. Eclipse wished she could see him again, or go back in time and make it different. But it was too late, and two simple words had ruined it. 'I can't.'
Hi guys! I'm being mean to you, I know. I'm being mean to me too! The next chapter I really think you are going to hate, and you'll probably hate me for it, but please forgive me. Stay flappy!
