HI guys! SO, there will be no healed hearts in this one. But there is a two month time skip to hatching day for the new dragonet. Enjoy!
Sunburst sat trailing her talon in the water. She'd moved back to her family's hut after finding out that her fiance was an animus and hadn't told her. It'd been two months, and now she was anxiously awaiting the hatching of her dragonet. Glory, Deathbringer, and Passion had moved away from the waterfall hut to give Sunburst her own home. She'd thanked them for it. She didn't feel like being around other dragons at the moment. She hadn't gone back to her home that she'd shared with Seafoam for two months, and she didn't care if he was still there or if he'd gone back to the Sea Kingdom. She just hoped he realized the full weight of what he'd done. Sunbursts egg was the same color as Seafoams scales, which was a horrible reminder of what she'd been through. But she knew she would love this dragonet all the same. A loud crack sounded behind her, and she whirled to see a little head poking out of the egg. Sunburst rushed over to the baby dragonet. She was a blue and green Seawing with giant wings. Her underbelly was the same color as her father's scales. Sunburst couldn't take any more reminders of Seafoam. She burst into tears, holding herself. The dragonet curled up in her legs, nuzzling her mother. Sunburst cried harder. "I'm sorry." She whispered to the dragonet. "I'm so, so sorry. HeartBreak." The new dragonet, HeartBreak, stretched out her wings. Sunburst cried harder when she saw a matching pattern on the undersides of her wings. The same pattern Seafoam had. Curled around her dragonet, Sunburst cried and cried and cried. She couldn't stop it. It was all too much for her already shattered heart to take. But she did love HeartBreak. Her daughter, who she had named after the feeling that haunted her. What a mother I am. Sunburst thought. Suddenly, someone behind her cleared their throat. She wiped her eyes and turned to see Seafoam standing there. She snarled. "What are you doing here?" She said. He hung his head. "Get out!" Sunburst growled. Seafoam took several steps back. Sunburst was on her feet now, sheltering HeartBreak underneath her. The little dragonet whimpered. Sunbursts motherly instincts kicked in, causing her to bend down and give her daughter a reassuring lick. Seafoam stared in shock. Sunburst glowered at him, her gaze hot enough to melt steel. He spread his wings, but right before he took off, HeartBreak peeked her head where Seafoam could see. Sunburst stood tall, defiantly glaring at the dragon she'd loved, at the dragon who'd lied to her. "Go away." She said, her voice low. She sounded dangerous. She would do anything to protect this dragonet, and if that meant kicking out her father, she would do it. Seafoam folded his wings. Sunburst took a step forward. Seafoam met her gaze. "You're kicking me out." He said. Sunburst growled, warning him. He stepped closer. "This is my dragonet too." He said. Tears sprung to Sunbursts eyes. "No." She said. "This is not your dragonet. Because you lied. You don't deserve her." Seafoam looked shocked. Tears slipped down Sunbursts cheeks. "I'm going to ask one last time." She said. "And if you don't go, I'll force you too." Seafoam backed away. "Get out." growled Sunburst menacingly. Seafoam didn't hesitate to take off into the sky. As soon as he was gone, Sunburst collapsed to the ground in a fit of tears. She couldn't take care of this dragonet. She hid her face in her talons, tail wrapped around HeartBreak. Seafoam wasn't the one who didn't deserve this dragonet. Sunburst was. She opened her eyes, blinking the tears away. HeartBreak was curled up, asleep. Sunburst carried her inside, placing her in one of the beds. Then she went outside again to find her previous visitor there again. "What do you want?" She said, her voice tired. Seafoam looked down. "I know you probably don't want this, but it is yours." He slid her ring across the ground. Sunburst almost collapsed again. She picked up the ring, but she didn't put it on. Instead, she went inside and picked up HeartBreak. Setting her down at Seafoams feet, she took a deep breath. "Take her." She said. Seafoam stared in shock. "What?" Sunburst felt tears coming to her eyes. "Take her. To wherever you live. Take her with you." Seafoam blinked at her in confusion. Sunburst took another deep breath. "I said, take her!" She yelled, eyes blurry with pain. Seafoam nodded, picking up HeartBreak. "She belongs with you." She said. Seafoam spread is wings. "And her name is HeartBreak." Sunburst whispered. Seafoam heard it, because he faltered. But only for a moment. And then he was gone.
I have no words. Stay flappy, my crying seals.
