Glory sat outside the hut, watching the egg with loving eyes. Glory and Deathbringer had moved to the waterfall hut, deciding that it was the perfect place to raise a dragonet. Deathbringer came up beside her. "Hey." He said, looking down at her. "Hey." She replied, not taking her eyes off the egg. He dropped something at her feet. A white rose. "Oh!" Glory breathed, smiling. "There aren't any of these in the garden!" Deathbringer smiled smugly. "I have my ways." Glory sighed, leaning into her mate. Tails entwined, sitting at the entrance to the waterfall hut, watching the dragonet that belonged to them, Glory was content to freeze that moment in time and live in it forever. Glory yawned, stretching her wings. "I'll get the egg." She said, padding over and placing it into one of the large beds. Glory curled herself around it, closing her eyes. Deathbringer was in the other large bed, watching his mate and egg, protecting them. Glory fell asleep with the ones she loved most right there with her.
A loud crack woke Glory in the middle of the night. Deathbringer was still sleeping soundly, so she gently aroused him with her tail. "I think it's happening!" She whispered excitedly. Deathbringer perked up immediately, padding over too sit beside Glory. Glancing at the egg, Glory spotted a sizable crack at the top. It only grew, and within twenty minutes the dragonet had tumbled out into the world. A girl with bright yellow scales that swirled with orange and pink to look like the sunrise, Glory loved her at first sight. Especially because she had scattered black scales on her legs, and silver star scales on the underside of her wings. She also had two teardrop scales, one by each eye. Glory gasped, realizing what that meant. Our dragonet is a mind reader! The tiny dragonet sat up, flicking her tail. When she spotted her parents, she let out a small squeal and raced over to them. Tripping on her feet and landing on her nose, Deathbringer was about to move to help her, but Glory held him back. He relaxed when the dragonet jumped up, completely unfazed, and came to her mother and father. Glory enveloped the baby in a warm hug, Deathbringer wrapping his wings around his family. "What should we name her?" He whispered, and Glory had the perfect name. "Sunburst." She replied, and Deathbringer smiled. Sunburst flipped onto her back, one talon in her mouth, tail wrapped around her back leg. Glory smiled at her daughter, flipping her over and nudging her with her nose. Sunburst decided to then pounce on Glory's snout, digging in with small claws and nipping with itty teeth. Glory laughed at her ferocious dragonet. Tossing her head up, the dragonet flew off and landed on her mothers back, promptly sliding down Glory's tail. Deathbringer sat and watched his new daughter with warm, caring eyes, admiring how confident the little baby already seemed. Sunburst stumbled over to her father, pouncing on one of his talons. He lifted her up, tossing her onto his head. Sunburst squealed with delight, then, with a yawn, curled up on her fathers head and fell asleep. Deathbringer laid down slowly, careful not to tip the baby dragonet. Tucking his wing over Glory, the happy family fell asleep together.
Glory opened her eyes to see a bright flash of yellow, orange, and pink in front of her, deep blue eyes staring at her. Smiling as she remembered Sunburst, the new dragonet, she curled her tail around her daughter and pulled her too her side. "Morning, Sunburst." She said, and Sunburst perked up her ears. "Mommy?" She said, her voice a tiny squeak. Glory felt her heart swell with pride. "Yes?" I'm hungwy." Sunburst said, and Glory laughed. "Oh really?" Sunburst nodded. Glory hugged her daughter tight before walking over to the fruit cabinet and picking out a fat blueberry. She rolled it to Sunburst, who pounced on it, kicking it up with her back legs. She held it with her front talons while she bit into it, finishing in two bites. Deathbringer lifted his head and smiled at the blue nosed dragonet. He went over and licked Sunburst's nose, clearing all remnants of her breakfast. Sunburst curled up in her father's side, a splotch of color on a black canvas. He grinned at his dragonet as she began to lick his side. "Whatcha doing Sunburst?" He asked, and she looked at him with her pretty blue eyes. "I'm helping you be all cwean." And with that, she continued to lick his side until he finally had to get up and walk away. He came and sat by Glory, tails twined. "I love her." Glory said, leaning on Deathbringer. He licked her head. "Me too. And I always will."
Hey guys! So this is my longest chapter yet, and I absolutely love Sunburst! What do you think of the name? And the colors? I think she is perfect for Glory and Deathbringer, but I'm always open for suggestions. Anywho, have fun with it, and I'll see you later
