Sunburst sat with Mom and Dad in the hut, watching the egg carefully. A small crack had spread across the top, and it was growing larger by the second. A tiny head poked out of the egg, a piece on it's head. Mom encouraged the dragonet, curling herself around the egg. Soon, the egg cracked and a bright green dragonet popped out. Mom instantly moved her attention to the dragonet, wrapping her tail around it's tiny waist. But a surprise waited in the egg. The green dragonet squirmed away and dropped to the ground, plodding over to the egg and peeking it's head inside. Another head peeked out, this one red. Mom gasped, stepping over to her twin dragonets. "One's a boy, one's a girl." She said, looking fondly at her new daughter and son. "Which is which?" Sunburst asked, coming over to say hello to her new siblings. "The green one is the girl, and the red one is the boy." The girl jumped up and tripped over to Sunburst, purring and gurgling with delight. The red boy seemed timid and calm. Sunburst looked more closely at her sister. She had little circle shaped black marks on her stomach. "Mom, can I pick out her name?" Sunburst asked, bringing her head down to her sister's level. Mom smiled. "Sure. What do you have in mind?" Sunburst thought for a moment. "Kiwi." She said, and the green dragonet sneezed, holding her tail. "I think she likes it." Mom laughed, walking over to her daughters. "Hello Kiwi." The red dragonet hid in Dad's legs, his tail tucked between his legs. "This one should be Firefly." Dad said, and Mom smiled. "I like that." Coming over to her now large family, Mom enveloped them all in a warm hug.
Glory stared fondly at Kiwi and Firefly, watching them wrestle. Sunburst had gone to Starling's hut, and Deathbringer was gathering fruit, so Glory was watching the babies. She loved them so much, but she hadn't expected twins. They were the exact opposites of each other. Kiwi was excited, with so much energy that never seemed to go away. And Firefly was gentle and calm, and afraid of new things. When Glory had introduced them to fruit, Kiwi had gone right in and taken a huge bite while Firefly poked and prodded, only giving it tiny licks until he was sure it was safe to eat. Glory was extremely happy to have these dragonets, but she was dealing with a lot. With two new baby dragonets, it's hard enough, but Glory had almost forgotten that she was still the queen of the Rainwings. So whenever she could, she would slip away for an hour or two for suntime and whatever she needed to do as queen. But Glory wouldn't trade her perfect family for the world. Kiwi jumped on Firefly and started chewing his ear, making Firefly Whine in pain. Glory sighed, getting to her feet. "Kiwi, your brothers ear is not lunch." Kiwi looked at her mother innocently, releasing Firefly's ear and sliding to the ground. Firefly shook his head, pawing his ear. Glory sat back down, relaxing again when Kiwi started chewing instead on her brother's tail. "Kiwi!" Glory exclaimed, racing over and pulling her off. "Who's Kiwi?" A familiar voice said behind her, and Glory whirled to see Sunny standing at the entrance to the hut. "Sunny!" Glory cried. She shot Kiwi one last look before going to say hello to her friend. "What are you doing here?" Glory asked. Sunny shrugged. "Just wanted to say hello. And I'm glad I came! Who are these little dragonets?" Glory smiled. "The green is Kiwi, and the red is her twin brother Firefly." Sunny's expression melted into her face reserved for exceptionally adorable things. "Awwwww." She said. Glory nudged Sunny with a wing. "What about you? Do you have any dragonets?" Sunny smiled slyly at Glory. "Only one. Kato." She said. Glory hugged her friend. "Meerkat the dad?" Sunny nodded. "It really has been a while. How's Sunburst?" Sunny asked. Glory replied, "Fine. I'd have her say hello, but she's with Starflight and Fatespeaker's daughter right now." Sunny beamed. "She's friends with Starflight's daughter? How amazing is that! Now we just have to wait for another batch of the dragonets of destiny, with our children." Glory laughed. "Good to see you Sunny." "You too Glory." We really have grown up since our days in the cave.
Hi! I really enjoyed this chapter, with Kiwi and Firefly! I couldn't decide on a boy or girl, so I chose both! I'll update soon. Later!
