Making Friends

Sunburst fidgeted with her tail, holding it in her front talons. Mom sat beside her, smiling at her daughter. "You'll do great." She assured, and Sunburst sighed. It was so easy for her to say it! She was a queen! Of course, Sunburst was the princess, but she wasn't very regal. Not like her mom anyway. Sunburst was an awfully strange dragon. With pink, black, orange, and yellow scales, plus star scales on her wings, she didn't exactly fit in with the rest of the tribe. Add that to the fact that she was a mind reader, and the Rainwing/Nightwing princess, Sunburst had a pretty messed up life. And now her parents were expecting her to make friends. Sunburst was three years old now, and she had plenty of personality. Mom went inside, leaving Sunburst all alone to think about what she was going to do.

After 10 minutes of thinking, Mom came out and gave her a shove, urging her on. Sunburst squirmed, breaking free and launching into the air. "Okay fine, I'm going!" She said, flying off towards the village. Flying overhead, the village was a maze that Sunburst liked to explore in disguise. She did this now, shifting the color of her scales to pink and orange, erasing the black and star scales. She couldn't do anything about her teardrop scales though. Landing on the central platform, Sunburst set off towards where the dragonets would be. She was looking around as she went, so she wasn't watching where she was going. Suddenly she bumped into someone, startling her enough that her scales shifted back to normal. She stumbled back, tripping on her talons and ending up sitting on the ground like an idiot. The dragon she bumped into was a dragonet of her age, maybe a little older. The newcomer was a nightwing, and she rushed over to help Sunburst. "Oh my gosh, are you okay? I am soo sorry! I didn't even see you coming!" The Nightwing said, words tumbling out faster than Sunburst had ever heard. "I'm Starling." The Nightwing said, extending a talon. Sunburst accepted it and let Starling pull her back onto her feet. "I'm Sunburst." She said, shaking herself off. Realizing her scales were normal again with their weird patterns and colors, Sunburst blushed. Starling was staring. "Your scales are amazing! And Sunburst is soo much prettier than Starling, I think. You're Queen Glory's daughter aren't you?" Starling asked, and Sunburst could hardly keep up. "Yeah, I am." She said, then asked, "You really think my scales are cool?" Starling nodded. "I love them! I've never seen anything like it!" She said, and Sunburst smiled. "So, wanna be friends? I mean, we kinda already are, I think, but what about you?" Starling asked, and Sunburst smiled. "I'd like to be friends!" She said, flicking her tail from side to side. Starling grinned. "Great! What do you wanna do? We can go to my house, but my brothers and sisters are there so it's chaos and I don't like chaos do you?" Sunburst shook her head, clearing it. "We can go to my house." She offered, and Starling smiled and put her elbow through Sunbursts. "Off we go!" Starling cried, and Sunburst laughed. They leaped into the air, heading towards Sunbursts hut. Wait until Mom meets my friend! Sunburst thought excitedly.

Glory loved Starling at first sight. Her excitable energy and quick way of speaking made Glory certain she knew who her parents were. She was the perfect friend for Sunburst.

Sunburst and Starling made it to the hut just before lunch. Mom welcomed Starling in,a warm glow in her eyes. She kissed her daughters head, then asked, "What do you girls want for lunch?" Sunburst asked for some blueberries, her personal favorites. Starling asked for a mango. "So, Starling, who are your parents?" Mom asked, biting into a pineapple. Starlight swallowed her bite of mango before answering, "Fatespeaker and Starflight." Sunburst looked up. "Really?" Starling nodded. "How many brothers and sisters do you have?" Sunburst asked, and Starling answered, "Two brothers, one of them is my twin, and a sister." Sunburst smiled, wondering what it was like to have a sister, or a brother. "Starling, would you like to stay until dinner?" Mom asked. "Yes please." Was Starlings reply.

Hi! How how are you? Anyway, I think Sunburst got lucky. Starling is pretty great! Have fun with it, and thank you for the 65 reads. Later!
