'Have a good day ma'am' replied Shehnaaz with a soulful smile on her face which can lift up anyone's bad mood. Her Cafe "Coffee time" was not so big but was famous in the area, along with her there was Saloni and Aayush who worked for her but she never let them have that feeling of a worker, they were also a part of her small family.
"Saloni tum please aage ke orders le lo mai ander ja kar cupcakes ke frosting karke aati hu" hurriedly she went back inside the kitchen and started to prepare the speciality of her Cafe, dark chocolate cupcakes with peanut butter frosting.
This was her mother's recipe, she still remembers how much fun she used to have as a kid with her mother while playing around and making these cupcakes. Her beautiful chain of thoughts were broken by her constantly ringing phone. She sighed seeing 'Dadi' flashing on the screen.
"Hanji Dadi dasso ki hoya?" she asked holding her phone between her ear and her shoulder, busy frosting the cupcakes.
Suddenly her phone slipped from her ears and the cone of frosting she was holding fell down from her hands, she couldn't stand on her feets and thumped down lifelessly on the floor unable the accept what she just heard on the call. It wasn't her grandmother on the other side of the call, it was her neighbor, Mrs Khurana who had visited to meet her grandmother but as soon as she entered she saw the poor old lady passed out on the floor and she called the ambulance and immediately rushed to the city hospital.
She can't afford to lose her, she was her only family apart form her dog 'Coco'. Harshly wiping off her tears she gathers some courage to stand up and walked out of her Cafe. Soon she reached to the city hospital rushed towards the room no. that the receptionist told her about.
"Miss Gill I think we need to have a talk about your grandmother" Doctor Taniya spoke in very serious tone making Shehnaaz more than scared.
She followed her inside her cabin where the doctor asked her to have a seat, she sat down nervously, waiting for her to speak.
"Look Shehnaaz humne tumhare dadi ke kuch tests kiye thi last time and I'm sorry but she is diagnosed with kidney cancer" as she spoke, Shehnaaz felt her whole life turning upside down, tears started welling up in her eyes. How is she supposed to survive without her? She is her only strength and her only support.
"I won't lie, unke bachne ke chances 50 - 50 hai, I suggest you to admit her in the hospital and we'll start the treatment as soon as you pay the amount we need for her treatment" the doctor continued speaking while the only thing that was going inside her mind was she would do anything and to any extent to cure her grandmother.
"Mujhe Kitna amount bharna padega?" she asked clearing her chocked throat due to crying.
"15 lakhs" she stated.
She had no idea what and how she was going to do but still she replied back confidently "Mai arrange Kar dungi paiso ka ap please treatment start kar dijiye".
