Chapter Thirty-four

"And he totally wiped out!" I laugh as Michael finishes his story about Charlie. I love the atmosphere his family creates. I could stay here forever and be happy with that.

"Awww Charlie." I giggle looking up at him.

"Anyway! Tell us how he proposed." I giggle at Meghan.

"He didn't tell you?" She shakes her head no leaning closer to me. "Well I told him I wanted him to give me a tattoo and this dork did 'will you marry me?' in French." I pull up my sleeve showing it to them.

"Really, Charlie? You couldn't have done something romantic?"

"I thought it was romantic, mom!"

"Do you have a ring?" My smile drops slightly at Meghan's question.

"This idiot won't give it to me until the perfect moment." I sigh. He nudges me pouting.

"You know I want it to be special."

"I know, baby, I know. But I want my ring." He pecks my lips and I giggle laying my head on his shoulder.

"Soon. I promise." I sigh messing with his rings. I can't wait until he's wearing his wedding ring instead of the ones he stole from set.

"Well I'm gonna go to bed, kiddos." Mom stands up kisses everyone's forehead. She stands in front of me smiling lightly and kisses my forehead. "Goodnight, sweetie."

"Good night, mom." I whisper feeling my heart swell. I really love his family. I guess they're my family now too, right?

She walks up the stairs and Charlie's brothers follow her. Charlie stretches yawning.

"I'm gonna take Shadow and Taïga out." He pecks my lips then opens the back door. The two dogs run out barking making me laugh.

"So." Meghan sits down next to me wiggling her eyebrows.

"So?" I laugh.

"How is it?"

"Oh he's amazing. I can't even begin to tell you how amazing he is." She laughs shaking her head.

"I guess that saying about the dick being good really makes a girl crazy is true." I start choking on my own breath.

"WHAT?!" She starts laughing. "What the fuck are you talking about?"

"I asked how the sex was?" My jaw drops.

"I thought you meant how the relationship is!"

"NO!" I scream covering my face. "No, but seriously. How is it?" I shake my head blushing deeply while giggling.

"We haven't...you know."

"Oh. Why not?" I shrug not really knowing if I should say.

"We're just trying to wait for the perfect moment."

"Is that your decision?"

"I'm ready whenever he is, but neither one of us is pressuring the other into anything."

"So it's his decision." I make a face and hesitantly nod. "Girl, that's how you know he loves you and isn't just using you for sex." I sigh in relief thankful she doesn't see it as a bad thing.

"And the wait will make it so much better."

"Oh it really will. But I'm telling you now, if I'm not in the wedding, I'm throwing hands." I laugh shaking my head.

"I haven't even really started planning anything yet, but you will definitely be in it."

"Is your mom going to walk you down the aisle?" My smile fades and I look down at my hands.

"No. She's not invited."

"Oh." Her voice softens and she reaches over holding my hand. "Well I know that my mom would be absolutely honored to." I smile lightly looking up to her.

"You think so?"

"Oh I know so. She's already planning her gift." I laugh wiping my tears. "She loves you so much."

"Really?"

"Oh yeah. She already acts like you're her daughter." I smile lightly thinking about the idea of having her walk me down the aisle. I like it. A lot. "Dude! Olivia Rodrigo's new song just came out."

"Oh my god! I forgot about that. Play it now." She immediately starts playing the music video on the tv. She lays her head on my shoulder making me smile. I lay my head on top of her's.

As soon as the bridge begins, I can't stop the tears falling.

Red lights, stop signs

"This hurts." Meghan's voice cracks making me laugh through my cries. Shadow and Taïga run in followed by Charlie covered from head to toe in show.

Shadow whines seeing my tears and runs over to me. She jumps up on the couch and starts licking my tears away. I laugh petting her head and kiss her snout. She's my baby.

"Meghan, what did you do to her?" Meghan looks up to him keeping her head on my shoulder wrapping her arms around the arm her head is on.

"I don't want my drivers license anymore."

"Um...what?" I laugh at Charlie's confusion. Shadow settles down in my lap. I lay my legs across Meghan's lap sniffling.

"It hurted me."

"Hurted isn't really a word is it?" I look down at her. She shrugs then starts laughing.

"All I know is that I'm breaking the face of whoever hurt Olivia this bad."

"Oh I'll join you."

"Arson." I look up at Charlie as soon as he says it and begin laughing.

"Yes. Arson." He sits down next to me kissing my head. "Driver's License hurts just as bad as Unsaid Emily."

"I haven't heard it."

"It just came out you dork."

"Oh. I knew that." I laugh playing the music video again. I start crying again as soon as Liv sings 'cause how could I ever love someone else?

Shadow places her paws on my chest and starts licking my tears again then licks my lips. I laugh kissing her head again. She sighs then lays back down in between me and Charlie.

"Shadow, those are not your lips to kiss." He whispers to her making me laugh so hard I start crying again. "It's true." He pecks my lips then wipes my tears away.

I kiss his hand then start watching the music video again. I can already tell that this song will be on repeat for a long time. As soon as the video ends, I look up at Charlie. He's in tears making me smile.

"Well?"

"I only have one question." Meghan looks up at him while playing it again.

"Yeah?"

"Why are men?" I laugh nodding.

"That's a good question."

"I hate men."

"Charlie, you are a man." I laugh at Meghan. She has a point.

"I know, but I'd never hurt someone so badly that they write a song like this. Any guy that does isn't a real man."

God I love him.
