Chapter Seventy

As soon as Owen answers my call, I can't even say hi because he starts talking.

"You do know that Charlie and Kenedi snuck off to be with each other, right?"

"What? No. She took Shadow for a play date." I put him on speaker while trying to straighten Madi's hair.

"Charlie said he was tired of eating hot dogs and was going into the city to get something to eat."

"So?"

"Owen, you are forgetting that the three of you ate how many hot dogs on set." I giggle at Madi. I can tell by Owen's voice that he rolled his eyes at that.

"Twelve at least, but still. He wouldn't let us go with him."

"I mean all of you, with the exception of Kenny, are pretty annoying. Why do you think I asked Kenedi for my own bedroom?" Madi laughs so hard at Heer that I have to hold the straightener away from the both of us so we don't get hurt.

"Madi! Jesus. Stay still or I'm going to burn you."

"Don't threaten me with a good time, babe." Owen scoffs.

"Back off, Madi. She's my girlfriend."

"I know, Ow, but girls like to have some fun so chill." I giggle shaking my head.

"Anyway. Do you really think Charlie and Kenedi met up somewhere?"

"Yeah!" I hear Jeremy try to yell into the phone.

"Dude! Back off!"

"I want to talk to them too!" After a few seconds, I hear Jeremy's voice clearly. "Hi guys! But yeah. They definitely left to see each other."

"Why wouldn't they just tell us that? And where are they?"

"Maybe a date?"

"Mads, do you really think they'd leave us for a date?" She stays silent for a minute thinking then says no. "Exactly. They aren't that kind of couple. They don't like to be away from each other, but they can be if they need to be."

"I heard him say something about getting married."

"No offense, Kenny, but they are getting married in two weeks. I'd be nervous if they weren't talking about the wedding." I kick Heer trying to tell her to be respectful.

We don't need to piss off the god that is Kenny Ortega.

"Ow!"

"Shut up!" Kenny laughs.

"Maybe they aren't waiting." I quickly pull the straightener away from Madi's hair not wanting to burn it.

"What?" All five of us say it at the same time. Normally we would start laughing, but what did he just say?

"Maybe they're eloping."

"They would invite us, Kenny. Charlie wouldn't get married and just not invite me. I'm his best friend." I frown trying to think if Kenedi would do that to me or not.

I mean she was willing to just leave me pretty quickly. She wanted to move to Montana and never see me again. I wouldn't be surprised if she decided to get married without me there.

It would still hurt, but I wouldn't be surprised.

I take Madi's phone and text Kenedi. If she gets married without me there, I don't know what I'll do, but I know it won't end pretty.

You: it's sofia. bitch where are you

I want impatiently and sigh in relief seeing the three bubbles pop up on the screen.

Hot Girl Shit💅🏻: i'm eating dinner with a friend then taking shadow out for a play date. i'll probably be home in a couple hours. miss you🧡🧡🧡

I roll my eyes feeling even more pissed off. If she's lying to me, that will just make all of this so much worse.

You: who are you eating with? who's the play date with?

Hot Girl Shit💅🏻: just a friend. why are you being so nosy sof?

"Sofia, don't make a difficult situation bad." I glare at my phone ready to chew Owen's head off.

"Shut up."

You: are you cheating on charlie?

Hot Girl Shit💅🏻: you seriously think i would cheat on him?

You: are you with him now?

Hot Girl Shit💅🏻: jesus christ. can i not go on a date with my fiancé without you giving me the second degree?

You: so you did leave me for him.

Hot Girl Shit💅🏻: what? dude we missed each other okay? why are you making this such a big deal?

You: because i would never leave you for owen yet you continue to leave me for charlie

Incoming call from Hot Girl Shit💅🏻

I quickly wipe my eyes and walk into the kitchen hesitantly answering.

"What."

"Sofia, this is the first time I have ever left you to be with Charlie. What the fuck is going on?"

"This isn't the first time and it obviously won't be the last."

"What? When was the first time?"

"You seriously almost moved to Montana, Kenedi." She sighs as I start pacing. I never should have texted her. I should've just kept all of this to myself. "Never mind. Just go have fun with Charlie. I'll see you later."

"No! Sofia, don't you dare hang up on me and don't you dare shut down on me either. You know why I was moving to Montana."

"And yet you were okay with leaving me." I blink rapidly trying not to cry. Why am I so emotional? Jesus.

"I wasn't okay with leaving you. I wasn't okay with anything that was happening. I was going to ask you to move with me, but I knew you would want to stay for Owen especially when you two got back together. I didn't want to come between the two of you again. I just wanted you happy."

"And you thought I would be happy after you left me? Wow. That's some best friend right there."

"I knew you were still mad at me for this."

"Mad at you? I was never mad at you! I don't blame you for wanting to leave me, but if that's what you want, don't call me your best friend."

"What? Sofia, you are my best friend!"

"Have fun getting married." The silence threatens to break the dam holding back my tears.

"How did you know?" I bite the inside of my lip nodding and hang up. I angrily wipe away my tears and walk back out to the living room.

Madi and Heer both look at me concerned, but I fake a smile anyway.

"Who's up for some drinking?"
