🧡Valentine's Day🧡 Part Four

Owen
I nervously walk out into the backyard holding Sofia's hand. Everything still looks like it's in place, but I make sure all of the pillows are fluffed then turn on the projector.

"Okay. Okay I think it's all good." I nervously walk back over to Sofia and move behind her.

"Can I look now?" I bite my lip nervously.

"Yeah." I slowly pull the blindfold off holding my breath. She covers her mouth slowly looking around. "You hate it don't you?"

I can feel my anxiety rising as she shakes her head no. She begins sniffling making my anxiety skyrocket.

"I-it's so beautiful." She turns around looking up to me in tears. "I love it, Owen." I smile lightly blushing deeply.

"You do?" She nods wiping her tears.

"I love it and I love you." She wraps her arms around my neck making me smile down at her.

"I love you, princess." I lean down kissing her softly then pull her over to the projector. "I wasn't sure what movie to watch so I just brought a ton of movies."

"Really? You brought Toy Story?" She laughs.

"What?! It's a classic!" I pout. She giggles pecking my lips.

"I know it's your favorite movie, baby." I huff looking away embarrassed. "Which is why I want to watch it."

"What?"

"I wanna hear you talk about your favorite scenes." She giggles making me smile.

"My all-time favorite scene out of all the movies is when Buzz tries to fly and he ends up on that toy car and goes through the loop then glides through the air and falls onto Andy's bed and thinks he flew the whole time."

"You're so cute." I laugh nervously and put the movie into the projector.

"I try to be." I lay down on the pillows and hold my arms open for her.

"You don't even have to try to be. You just are." She lays down on top of me making me feel peaceful. I haven't felt this peaceful since before I talked to Kenedi about this promise ring.

I'm just waiting for the absolute right moment to give it to her.

About halfway through the movie, it feels like the ring is burning a hole in my pocket. I know that if I don't give it to her now, I'll chicken out of ever giving it to her.

"Can you pause it? I gotta pee."

"Oh yeah! Of course."I pause it awkwardly as she stands up. I watch her walk inside the house then shakily call Heer.

"Did you give it to her yet?"

"No. I'm too scared."

"Owen, you have nothing to be scared of!"

"What if she doesn't want it?"

"Dude, she would literally marry you right now if you asked her to. She'd drive to the courthouse right now and elope. There's no way in hell she would turn down that beautiful promise ring." I sigh shakily looking at it.

"How do I give it to her?"

"Just say you love her and give it to her. Duh."

"But I want it to be more special than that!"

"Dude, I haven't been on a date in over a year okay? Give me a break." I sigh massaging my temples. "Plus, Dylan O'Brien ruined relationships for me anyways."

"How would you want Dylan to give you a promise ring?"

"I don't know. I haven't really about it. Um...I guess just point some of the stars out to her and make it all romantic and shit then give it to her."

"Okay. Okay." I let out a shaky breath nodding. "Alright. I got this."

"You got this!" I hang up taking deep breaths. If this doesn't go well, I'm running away to the Bahamas.

I lean back against the pillows turning off the movie so we can see the stars better and nervously pour two glasses of champagne.

Sofia walks back out with a facial expression that I can't read.

"Everything okay?"

"Yeah! Everything's fine." She sits back down next to me and I offer her one of the glasses. She shakes her head no smiling nervously.

I shrug setting them to the side then lay back down. She lays her head on my shoulder and I pull a couple blankets over us feeling her start to shiver.

"You see that star right there?" I point to it.

"Yeah?"

"That's one of the brightest stars in our galaxy. It's the North Star."

"Wait, the North Star isn't the brightest?"

"Nope. It's more like the fortieth brightest."

"No way. I never knew that!"

"Well if you look over here, you can see the Big Dipper and the Little Dipper."

"Wait, where's Orion's Belt?" I hold her hand and gently trace the outline with her finger. She looks up to me smiling and I fall for her harder if that's even possible.

"I love you so fucking much that it hurts." She swallows hard looking up to me.

"I love you too." Her voice cracks. I kiss her fingers nervously.

"There's something I've been wanting to give you for a while now. I know it's not much and I don't even know if you'll like it-"

"I already know that I'll love it just because it's from you, Owen." I smile nervously and hesitantly pull out the ring.

"There's one for you and one for me

"There's one for you and one for me." I bite my lip nervously watching her face.

"Owen..." She trails off eyes beginning to water.

"They're promise rings. I know we're still getting to know each other, but I know that I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I want to marry you." She covers her mouth as a few tears fall. "I love you. You're my person."

"Not you quoting Grey's Anatomy right now." We both laugh as I shake my head.

"You're the one who made me watch it." I gently wipe away her tears smiling lightly. "But this is my promise to you that we will get married. We will have a family. And we will be happy."

"I love you so fucking much." I smile wider and kiss her softly. She quickly takes her rings off and I slide her ring on. She takes off my rings then slides on my ring.

"I love you, princess."
