I didn't realize that Sofia was this hurt. I'm a terrible best friend. How did I not see this coming?

I sigh texting Owen and Jeremy hoping I can somehow make things right. I'm not sure how, but I need my best friend happy again.

You: long story short, Charlie and I need you to meet us at the courthouse ASAP. love you🧡

I smile lightly and slowly get out of the car. Charlie already went in and got us a table, but I stayed in the car to talk to Sofia.

Before I can even get out of the car, my phone starts ringing and I'm surprised to see one of my old coworkers from Starbucks calling me.

"Hello?"

"Hey! You're in Canada, right?"

"Hey! Yeah I am. I'm here with Charlie. Why?"

"Turn around." I turn around and scream seeing her.

"ZION!"

"KENEDI!" I walk over to her and reach up on my tippy toes hugging her as tightly as I can. I've missed my Zion hugs. "You look so pretty! Oh my gosh. How is everything with Charlie?"

"Well...."

"Well....?"

"We're getting married." I show her my engagement ring giggling.

"No way! When?!"

"It's complicated." She raises an eyebrow at me. "The wedding is planned for two weeks from today, but we were going to elope."

"Were?"

"Some stuff happened with Sofia and I don't know if it's a good idea anymore."

"What happened?" I sigh rubbing my temples as I explain the situation to her. "Jeez. That's a lot."

"I know. I already texted Jeremy and Owen and they said they're on their way, but I don't know if Sofia would even come."

"You never know unless you ask her."

"I didn't ask her to begin with because I didn't think she would be supportive."

"She's your best friend, Kenedi. Of course she would support you."

"She didn't support me moving."

"That's because she felt like she was losing her best friend and now that feeling is even worse." I smile lightly in tears.

"You have no clue how much I've missed you, Z." She laughs hugging me again. "Are you busy?"

"Nope. I was just trying to explore town while my cousins are out doing who knows what."

"Do you want to come eat with me and Charlie? And then maybe go to the courthouse with us?"

"Are you being serious?"

"Dude, there's no way I'm just not going to have you at my wedding. Please say yes." She laughs nodding and hooks her arm with mine.

"Lead the way." I laugh walking into the restaurant actually smiling again.
