With the New Year's Eve party now in full swing, it quickly became obvious how busy I was going to be tonight as the revellers continued to pour through the door, each one of them demanding my attention every time I try to make my way towards the poker room to spend some time with the guys.
But once I had finally pried the glass of champagne away from my assistants hand, I knew that I would at least get five minutes to give them all the gift that I have been waiting a week to give them. We made a deal with each other a couple of Christmases ago that we would not exchange gifts but I just couldn't help myself this time, I just hope they like it.
Pushing through the doors of the poker room I smile to myself as I see all seven of them gathered around the poker table, none of them with any chips or cards in front of them, just Marjorie sat in the dealers chair chatting away to all of them as they all sipped on glasses of champagne. They never played poker on New Year's Eve, but they always requested Marjory to be their dealer even though she did little to no dealing that night, they just did it so she could have an easy night sitting down rather than stand up the entire time.
"Here she is!" Jin beams as he sees me approaching them, making all of them look in my direction as I reach the table.
"Gentlemen." I grin, keeping the gifts hidden behind my back. "Now I know that we had a pact to not exchange Christmas gifts, but I couldn't resist. Enjoy."
Throwing seven key cards into the middle of the table, they all look up at me before reaching over and grabbing one, smiling to themselves as they see the words House of Cards etched in black across the keys.
"Seriously?" Hoseok chuckles as he stands to his feet. "You got us all a room here for the night?"
"I sure did." I grin and nod as they all stand and leap towards me. "Seven separate suites for you guys to enjoy."
Hugging them one by one as they approached me, I noticed a certain someone staying back so that he could be the last to pull me into his arms.
"Are you enjoying mine with me, beautiful?" He whispers into my ear, his roaming hands making me pull back and give him a stern look.
"I can't." I whisper before walking back towards the poker table.
"You make a lovely couple." Marjory coos, making me choke on air as Taehyung laughs beside her.
"W-Who are you talking about?" I stammer as Jimin takes his seat again.
"You two." She says, waving her finger between Jimin and I. "I may be old dear but I'm not stupid, I've seen the way you look at each other. If you're not fucking each other, you definitely should be."
Catching Tae's eye as I shake my head, I lean down to grab the empty champagne bottles off of the table as Marjory looks up at me, her stare making me feel incredibly uncomfortable as if she is climbing right inside my mind and picking it apart.
"I don't know what you're talking about."
"Oh come on!" She laughs. "It's not illegal to have fun dear, just risky. You're young, enjoy it whilst you can, especially with someone as dishy as this one." Pointing at Jimin as he sits silently with his eyes focused on the table, she gives me a knowing look, a look that makes me feel as if the walls are closing in on me.
"Gorgeous, just tell them. You know none of us can judge you for having a casual fling." Looking at Tae as he inadvertently spills the beans, I can feel all eyes on me, especially Jungkook's as I see him shift in his seat beside Marjory.
"I'm not having a fling." I laugh nervously, jumping slightly as Jimin stands up abruptly beside me.
"She's right, we are definitely not having a fling."
"Thank you." I breathe out, glad that he's taking my side in all of this.
"We are together. She's my girlfriend and has been since Christmas Day. The Christmas that we spent together at my family's home and then in New York."
Feeling as if my eyes are about to pop out of my head as I stare at him, the silence is deafening around the room as everybody takes in the news that they've just received.
"Is this true?" Yoongi asks, glancing at Jungkook as he chews the inside of his cheek with his eyes boring into Jimin.
"I need to get back to work." I huff, grabbing a few more empty bottles before scurrying out of the room, glancing up at the security camera praying to myself that no one in the security room heard any of that.
"Y/N!!" I hear, looking across the casino to see Daniel charging at me.
"Umm, yes?" I wince as he gets closer.
"Please tell me that you're all set for when the ball drops at midnight?"
Breathing out a sigh of relief as I turned to hand the empty champagne bottles to a waiter that passes by me, I begin to walk towards the tables laughing as I see my assistant Alex with three cougars hanging off of him by the blackjack table.
"It's all set Daniel." I chuckle. "You need to calm down, relax. Have a drink or two."
"I should, shouldn't I?" He responds, rubbing the back of his neck as he looks around, noticing everyone is having a great night apart from him. "But we need to deal after the countdown. It's tradition that the senior staff deal on new year's, you know that."
"And you do realise Daniel, that each year we have done that I've been absolutely hammered?" I laugh. "I deal better when drunk. Just call it a gift."
"Oh fuck it." He sighs, waving over a waitress and grabbing the champagne bottle from her tray along with the empty glasses. "Let's just have some fun yeah?"
"That's the spirit!" I chuckle, thanking him as he hands me a glass. "So I'll be on stage for the count down then usher everyone outside for the fireworks. After that I'll meet you at the craps table? Show them how the pros do it?"
"Sounds like a plan." He nods, gulping down his drink. "You still bringing old George up on stage for his midnight kiss?"
Smiling to myself as the man in question feebly and slowly walks in our direction with the aid of his walker, I nod at Daniel as I hold my hand out for George to grab as he gets closer. When Georges wife passed away in the summer, he began to spend more and more time here in the casino. I asked him over a month ago what his plans were for Christmas and New Year's, secretly hoping that he had some family that he could spend the holidays with. The thought of him being alone absolutely broke me to the point that I made a promise that when the clock strikes midnight, I will be his New years kiss. If that's what it takes for him to not spend the night alone, I would gladly do it every night.
"I made a promise." I tell him, looking fondly at George as he squeezes my hand.
