Sitting in the crowd, Y/N's leg was shaking constantly with nerves. Tonight was the final table of the poker tournament. With her boyfriend and a man she considers to be a younger brother in line to take the title, she watched every move fiercely as soon as the game began as her nerves caused her to bite down on her nails with her best friend sitting beside her doing exactly the same.
"I don't believe this." Tae whispers. "Look at him, he must be shitting his pants."
Referring to his baby brother sitting at the head of the table, it was easy to see that his observation was 100% correct. Jungkook looked like a deer caught in headlights, not the professional poker player he had found himself to be in the past week.
"He'll do just fine." She whispers back. "Look how far he's come already. Have faith Tae."
"Well all I'm saying is that he better pay me back for footing out the bill to get him into this damn situation in the first place."
Shifting in their seats as another player gets eliminated, they watch as the game whittles down to the last three players with Jimin and Jungkook still in it.
Glancing at each other as the player graciously leaves the room, they simultaneously take a deep breath before looking back at the table seeing Jimin grinning over at them as he motions his head towards the chips sat in front of Jungkook. He's in the lead.
"All in"
Snapping their heads round at the voice declaring all in, they stand to their feet as does the rest of the audience looking over at the timid Jungkook nodding his head.
"I call."
"Holy shit." Tae breathes out, gripping Y/N's hand as Jimin lets out a small chuckle. "Come on baby bro, you got this."
"He's still in even if he loses Tae. His stack is bigger than the other guys, it's fine."
Shaking his head, Tae turns to her. "It's not that. If he wins this hand, him and Jimin will be heads up for first place."
"Holy shit."
With the pair on tenterhooks as the hand plays out before them, they both let out an involuntary squeal when Jungkook flips over his hand, having a much better hand than the other player with an ace, king, Y/N grins at the thought of rule she always sticks to herself when she plays. Always play the ace.
All three players are now standing, also waiting for the last community card to be dealt, the fate resting in that thin piece of a poor tree in the dealer's hand until she flips it over.
Ace.
"YES!!!!!!!!" Tae screams at the top of his lungs, slamming his hands down on the railing that keeps them away from the players. "That's my fucking baby brother!" He yells again, ignoring the crowd laughing at him as he exudes nothing but pride.
