I must say, although it's a small gift, it really is the thought that counts. The fact that a small comment on how sudoku relaxes me, prompted him to gift me a book full of puzzles, really does mean a lot. Not only was he listening, he was taking it in. Which we all know, is rare in a man.
And I'm even more grateful to have it on the one night I needed to take the bus home whilst my car is in the shop.
So sitting here at the bus stop at 2am with my new book in hand is a god send right now. Biting the end of my pencil, I take another glance at my watch, fifteen more minutes until the next bus, great.
Sighing as I look back down at the puzzle in front of me, my one light source from the lamp above is overshadowed by a tall figure, staring down at me as I lift my head.
"You realise I am now banned from the casino because of you right?" The tall figure grits, towering over me as I lower my book.
"It wasn't my fault." I defend, trying to seem unbothered when in fact, I'm freaking out inside. I'm here all alone with not another human in sight, If he wanted to, this man could do anything he wanted with me right now and no one would hear me scream.
Turning my body to the side, I look back down at my book. Hoping that if I ignore his presence he will retreat. But stepping to the side as I turn, he leans in closer, pressing his hands on the bus stop either side of my head, boxing me in.
"I told you that you would regret your decision, didn't I?" He growls, my body trembling as his hot breath hits my cheek.
"What are you going to do?" I quivver, never feeling more vulnerable than I do at this precise moment in time.
"You see the state of my face?" He raises his voice, pointing to his shining blackeye. "Your guard dogs did this to me. I think I should return the favour, don't you?"
"What? So you're going to beat up a woman because your ego is bruised?" I gulp.
Shifting his weight, he grins, eyeing me up and down before pressing into me, completely pinning me into my seat. "Among other things."
With my eyes stinging with tears, I begin to pray for someone to rescue me, anyone to walk or drive past and realise my compromising position. His grin grows wider once he sees my tears, but I can't allow this to happen.
Pushing him back with all my might, he stumbles slightly. Still not enough to deter him, but enough to allow me to get to my feet, hoping that me trying to stand my ground will have him backing down, but his sinister grin shows me that this is all just a game to him.
As he takes another step towards me, headlights approaching has him turning his head, distracting him enough for me to try to make my escape. But as the lights get closer, the car slows down until it comes to a complete stop beside us, the tinted windows concealing the driver until they open the door.
