It's been hours since the surgery started. Kahit nasa likod lang palagi ni Lucas at paminsan-minsang tumutulong kapag kailangan, ang dami ko paring natutunan.
I know that my sister is already brilliant and this surgery really proves that she is really made for this field. She is beyond amazing!
The both of them were very eager to teach me. They were very patient even if I already asked a lot of questions to them.
Nag-tanong ako kung paano gawin iyong technique na ginagawa ni Ate Margaux at malinaw niya namang naisagot 'yon.
Titig na titig pa ako sa ginagawa nila na hindi ko namalayan na tapos na pala sila sa ginagawa.
"Can you do a knot tie for me, please?" Ate Margaux asked behind her mask.
I was surprised so I didn't get what she meant by that at first.
"Huh?"
"Knot tie, Dr. Donovan. Can you do that?"
I gulped. It was already taught in medschool but I wasn't sure if I could still remember how to do it correctly. I haven't been practicing some surgical knots.
The last time I closed up a wound was already months ago! Sobrang simple pa ng procedure na iyon kaya confident ako na gawin iyon.
But this one... it has a lot of steps and it can be a bit frustrating. I wasn't confident to do it but I'll try.
"I'll try." Sagot ko.
Ate Margaux nods her head. She moved aside so she can give space for me. I moved to the other side of the OR bed so I could take over.
"I'll be here to guide you."
I nod my head once and took over her position. I grabbed the forceps and started doing the knot die that my sister asked me to do.
I just noticed how tensed I was through my shaking hand. I wanted to curse myself so bad because I shouldn't be nervous especially now that I'm closing up a patient's open wound.
Plus, I am handling another person's life and there is no room for me to make a mistake.
I breathed hard and continued what I'm doing. Ginawa ko kung ano ang naalala kong itinuro sa amin noon. I kept fumbling. Ate Margaux and Lucas were carefully watching me to do it and whenever they notice a small mistake, they will immediately tell me about it and help me to do the right step.
I gulped and felt myself sweating bullets now. This is just a damn knot tie, Fel? What are you so tensed about?
