Chase's POV
7:00. Right on the dot, as usual. I got out of bed, chose my clothes, and headed to the bathroom. I was just about to open the door when I crashed into it. Great. The last thing I needed was for my sister, Grace, to get to the bathroom before I did.

"Grace, ya in there!?" I asked as I pounded on the door.

"Yes," she responded from inside.

"How long are ya gonna take?"

"I don't know. I just got in."

"Oh, come on!" I ran down the stairs and decided to shower in the downstairs bathroom. I ran and collided with the door to a halt. I found out this door was locked too.

"Jace?"

"Yes?" I barely heard him say.

"How long are ya gonna take?"

"I'm bouta get out," he answered.

"Okay, hurry up." When he got out, I rushed in and showered. When I finished, I ran out and headed to the kitchen. My mom was making pancakes and coffee. "Morning, mom."

"Morning, hon," she said as she turned to see me. "Oh, can you do me a favor?"

"Sure, what's up?"

"Your brother is going to a friend's house. Do you mind dropping him off?"

"Uhhh, sure." I always dread dropping him off at someone's house. He isn't my problem, though. The problem is either his friend(s) or the friend's parents, but I really don't have a choice. My mom served us all breakfast and left to work. I got my stuff and sprinted over to Marshall's house, which was only three houses down. I jumped the fence and ran to the back. When I got there, I noticed no one had shoveled up any snow. I struggled to make it to the back door, but I did. I looked through the glass and saw Marshall stashing chips in his book bag. I lightly knocked on the glass, which caught Marshall's attention. He walked up to the door and slid it open. I stomped my feet so I wouldn't drag any snow inside.

"Hey," he said as he zipped his bookbag shut.

"Hey," I said, stepping inside. "Mom not home?"

"Nah," Marshall said as he put on a strap of his bookbag.

"What up, guys?" Max said, shaking off the snow.

"Not much," I said as I fist-bumped with him. Marshall and him fist bumped right after.

"What up, what up?" Hunter asked as he jumped the fence of the house right behind Marshall's.

In case you are confused about how this works, I'll explain. Basically, Marshall's backyard is back to back with another yard so they are behind each other.

"Did you just get onto someone else's yard?" I asked as Hunter walked through Marshall's yard.

"Yeah," he responded. "So?"

"That's private property, you idiot," I reasoned.

"Yeahhh...whatever," Hunter said. He never gave care to anything in the world. "What's poppin'?" He said, walking in, leaving a trail of snow.

"C'mon, Hunter," Marshall complained.

"Oops," he said, realizing what he had done. "Sorry, not sorry," he shrugged.

"I think we should head out," Max said, looking down at his phone.

"Les gooo!" Hunter shouted as we all ran out the back door. We ran around the house and we all jumped the fence. Hunter started to do summer salts as Marshall began to do some random flips. Max went under Marshall's deck and pulled out a football.

"Go long! Max yelled. I ran about four houses down as Max stood on top of Marshall's mom's car. When I was ready, I signaled to Max. Max threw the football as I ran in time to catch it. "Wooooo!" Max cheered as he flipped off of the car. We would always spend our mornings this way. It made things more fun. One time though, Marshall threw the football into someone's window. We all know how that ended. We ended up running and laughing to school for our dear lives. Hunter, on the other hand, cursed the entire way there.

"Don't break another window!" Hunter joked to Marshall. Marshall rolled his eyes at the little comment and threw the football. Hunter ran for it and caught it. "Woooooo!" We all stopped goofing around when we made it to the same block the school building was at.

"Dude," Hunter said as he pointed to the stairs. We all looked and saw Skye, Zuma, and Everest walking into school. Marshall blushed madly and that caused laughter to burst out of Hunter. Jackson would've started to laugh if he was here too. Wait.

"Where's Jackson?" I asked the others.

"Got detention," Hunter laughed.

"I didn't even notice he wasn't here," Marshall admitted. We all got into the school building and went through security. We noticed that the halls were starting to get filled.

"Let's start moving," Hunter declared. He pushed his way through the crowd of people as we three followed. I made it to my locker as the other guys decided to stick around. Luckily, Max's locker was right next to mine.

"See ya later, losers," Hunter said as he walked away and headed to his locker. I just playfully rolled my eyes and closed my locker. I glanced to my right and saw Zuma, Everest, and Skye talking at Zuma's locker. Zuma always seemed to have trouble talking to the guys from the team. I try to be nice and talk to him to give him an easier "opening" with the guys. Hunter says Zuma needs help 'cuz he only hangs out with the "socially challenged". I think Zuma's a pretty nice guy and could have a chance talking to us. Although I feel like he and Hunter won't be easy to "click". It's hard to click Hunter with anyone. Max closed his locker, indicating he finished getting his stuff. We then made our way into homeroom.

"Hey, Zuma," Max said fist-bumping Zuma.

"'Sup," he responded.

"Hey," I smiled.

"Hey," he smiled back. I waved at Skye and Everest and Skye waved back. Everest didn't smile or wave. All she did was roll her eyes and Skye elbowed her. Max and I made our way into homeroom. We sat in our seats and waited for further instruction. The first two classes were a breeze. Mr. Osborne made us read a passage in our textbooks all period and Ms. Hidalgo gave us a new prompt to do for an essay. We were already in third period and I had history. I like history because that's the only class Marshall and I have together.

"Good morning," Ms. Villano greeted as we all walked in and made our way to our seats. "Settle down while I take attendance." She took attendance and told us we were gonna start on a new project. "This is going to be a partner project based off of King Henry VIII. We reviewed him before the break so I will refresh your minds. King Henry VIII was the king of England from 1509 till his death in 1547. He had six wives during this time. I want everyone to do a project based on one of his wives. I will give you guys the choice of who you choose to research but I'm choosing your partners." Complaints were heard throughout the entire classroom. "Okay, here is the list of people working together. Stella and Jackson."

"What!?" Jackson said, lifting his head from the desk.

"Jackson!?" Stella said with a little smile.

"Rocky and Zuma," Ms. Villano called out.

"Alright," Zuma cheered. He held his fist out for Rocky to bump but he just stared at it. After a few seconds, Rocky gave him a fist bump.

"Chase and Skye," Ms. Villano continued. My heart skipped a beat when I heard Skye's name get called after mine. "Everest and Marshall."
