Heather
This is the most amazing night I've ever had. Josh had put so much time and energy into planning it and making sure I loved it. My heart nearly melted when he told me about everything he had planned for the two of us.
Dinner was fantastic, I was touched that he insisted on paying. Not only did the guys I'd go out with let me pay my half, they expected it and would get pissed if I didn't immediately start pulling out my wallet. That was such a huge turn-off all on its own, Josh wanted the opposite, he wanted me to know that he cared.
Josh wasn't like the other guys I dated, he didn't see that my family had money. He just saw me, and he treated me like he loved me. That was what made me happiest when the two of us were together, every second we spent together made me feel like I was on top of the world.
The ballet was gorgeous and my favourite part by far was feeling him squeeze my hand every so often. He was being so sweet with me, making sure I was happy.
We were close to the end now, I was sure. At the intermission he touched the bare skin on my back briefly and then furrowed his eyebrows, turning to look at me.
"Are you cold?" He asked and I nodded, momentarily enjoying the heat from his fingers on my back.
"Just a bit, the A/C is a bit higher than I thought it would be. It's just my back, it's making me cold." I admitted and he smiled, sliding his arms out of his suit jacket.
"Well I'm sweating." He laughed and pulled the large jacket over my shoulders. "Is that better?" He asked and I nodded.
It wasn't better because I wasn't cold anymore, it was that the sweet gesture made it feel like fire was running through my body.
"You're too good for me." I whispered, giving him a quiet kiss.
For the rest of the show I settled into the warmth of his jacket, enjoying the comforting scent of detergent and aftershave that was coming from the fabric. It was a scent I loved and had begun to associate with Josh himself, it was why I loved taking his sweaters.
He'd begun leaving a set of toiletries in my shower and when he wasn't there, sometimes I'd open the lid of his body wash and smell it. It sounded creepy and I'd never dare admit it out-loud, but it made him feel close when he was so far away. I try and shake off my thoughts and I smile, leaning over to kiss his cheek quietly.
Soon enough the final bows take place with cheers from the audience and the curtain going down with the gorgeous ballerinas on the other side, waving goodbye.
I had really enjoyed the music, Josh did seem to know me. This date had been entirely perfect, every single second of it.
We stand, stretching our legs out and I pass Josh his coat back. "Thank you." I whisper and he smiles, sliding it back over his shoulders.
"Well? Did you like it?" He asks and I nod enthusiastically.
"I loved it." I insist, taking his hands in mine. "It was so great, I'm glad you could bring us."
"Me too." He assures me.
I follow him back out of the aisle and we wait our turn at coat check. The whole time he makes jokes, whispering funny things in my ear. I giggle and elbow him, begging him to stop.
"How do you feel?" He asks as we do up our coats. "Tired? Feet hurting?" He asks and I laugh, shaking my head.
"No, I just sat for two hours. I'm good to go." I whisper and he nods, reaching out for my hand.
