Josh
I feel like I'm walking on air, ever since Monday night I just felt like a little kid. I was smiling and humming, I had a spring in my step. Maybe it was all in my head but it felt like Heather and I were inches away from kissing while we sat at her piano. I was nervous, I didn't really know how to kiss but she saved me from the stress by just giving me a hug instead.
I wasn't sure if the forehead kiss was creepy or not. I really hoped it wasn't. I just wanted to let her know that I cared. She texted me on Monday night letting me know that she was really glad we got to see each other. I had a lot of homework to do last night and Heather had a big essay and a group project to turn in. I didn't mind giving her space, she FaceTimed me for a while and we chatted about some ideas for her paper and she helped me solve a hard calculus question. I swear she was too smart for me sometimes.
Today was Wednesday, one of the only three days a week that were starting to mater. I'd was running late, I knew I had to go to the drama room first and check in with Miss Young. I wanted to ask her a question before our rehearsal got going, but as I approached the open classroom door I could hear voices.
"Heather, can I ask you an uncomfortable question?" Miss Young says.
"Sure." I hear Heather answer.
"What size is your bra?" She asks and I stop dead in my tracks.
"Umm, let me check." I hear Heather mumble back. "It's a.....thirty-two C!" She calls back.
"Perfect, we had these tan body suits made for our dancers a few years ago. They're strapless but they have support and they cover all the important stuff, you can wear one under your clothes considering that top is strapless."
Damn, Heather was trying on her 'hot' outfit. Maybe this was a bad time, but did I ever want to see it. I did want to talk to Miss Young, maybe if I called out or knocked it would be alright.
"I don't know about these pants!" Heather calls out. "I feel like you'll definitely see panty-lines."
"Let's try it on and we'll cross that bridge when we come to it." Miss Young says and I take a deep breath knocking on the door but not coming in.
"I'm not looking!" I call out. "Can I come in?"
"Sure Josh! We've got a costume for you to put on too." Miss Young says and I poke my head around the doorframe seeing she had the pop-up change rooms set up. There were tables that all had different costumes on them, ready for different people to try on. Miss Young, Miss Bernadette and Miss Cooper were all checking off lists and organizing the piles.
"Come on over." Miss Cooper says. "Can you try this on?" She asks. "I want to see what you and Heather look like together."
"Oh, sure." I say, taking the pile and going into the booth next to the one where I could hear Heather fumbling around to put on her costume.
My costume was a pair of loose dark jeans, a black t-shirt and a belt. I shrug and change my clothes, pulling the ungodly tight t-shirt on over my head. I tuck it into the jeans and thread the belt. I decide to cuff the bottom of the jeans and the sleeves of the shirt, trying to make it as close to the movie as possible.
I pull back the curtain and hear a chorus of applause from the three of them.
"It looks great, Josh." Miss Bernadette says. "I think you should use those shoes in the performance, they're perfect."
"Cool." I say, shrugging my shoulders.
"Heather, honey are you alright in there?" Miss Bernadette calls and I hear Heather sigh.
