PART 1: HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
10 years prior, 13th march 2017
speing time was taehyung's favorite time. whenever school was over, he couldn't wait to run back home to spend time with his grandma in the garden, take care of his soon to be bloomed flowers, while humming his favorite melody.
his lessons just ended, the bell rung loudly and all students happily jumped off from their seats in the classroom, running out.
no lessons anymore for today, finally. taehyung hated school, the fifteen years old boy rather did things by himself or with his grandma at home. still, even if his hatred towards the educational system is so huge, for some reason his grades were perfect. it was gifted to him.
he was always one of the curious kids, that never lets a question unanswered until he knows the right and every possible answers to them. a probable reason why he isn't doing bad at school at all.
characteristically, taehyung was an angel; so his grandma always says.
indeed he was. unordinary-unique in his own way; no one sees the things the way taehyung does, his innocent eyes never failing to catch even the smallest details.
quickly, he packed his stuff into his backpack, forgetting a pencil that he had lend a boy at the beginning of the lesson, which brought him to groan annoyed. still, he thanked the boy with a smile and just opened the zipper of his backpack, too lazy to pull out his pencil case again, he just threw the pencil somewhere inside. at least he ha sit back.
he swung the backpack over his shoulder and got up, bidding goodbye to some of his classmates, before stepping out of that annoying class room.
a smile formed on his lips, when an arm got swung around his shoulder and he looked up to his best friend, park jimin, who was a year older than him. "hey tae, wanna play football in the backyard?"
taehyung smiled, his plans of spending time in the garden pushed aside. "of course, let me just quickly text nana." taehyung pulled his phone out, texting a quick 'i'm coming home later, playing ball with jimin' to his grandma, getting a smiling emoji as response almost immediately. taehyung's friends sometimes envy him, his grandma is so updated to the new generation and social media, that whenever taehyung texts with her, it seemed so unreal to them. mentally, that woman must be still in her 20's.
"she seems to be okay with it. do you have a ball?" taehyung questioned as he packed his phone back into the pocket of his jacket.
"remember last week when we played together with jackson and the guys?" jimin asked, as the best friends walk towards their lockers.
"yeah, what's with it?"
"you forgot your ball last time, i put it into my locker," the 16 years old said and taehyung squeaked out a loud 'yes!'- happy that he forgot his ball, so that they now can play.
he's always down for some soccer with his best friend.
soon they grabbed the ball- it were just them two this time, but they didn't mind being alone at all. sometimes they switched the positions as goal keeper and attacker and sometimes they just match the ball back and forth.
though it were just them two, they could never have more fun as with each other. the fact that they are in different years saddened them a lot, but it never stopped them. they would be soulmates forever.
an hour of playing with the spherical object passed, the best friends now laying on the soft grass of the soccer field, looking up to the sky. the sun had settled a little, leaving the air to have a slightly cool tone that felt refreshing.
"don't forget your ball this time," jimin reminded taehyung, who hummed.
"by the way, i forgot my wii controller at yours last time," the raven haired boy added and taehyung laughed. "yes, it's on my nightstand, i wanted to give it to you today, but forgot, sorry."
"i'll come over tomorrow anyways," the conflicted expression of the older boy made taehyung raise an eyebrow. "why not comin' over today?" he asked, deciding that he can plant his plants tomorrow.
"my mom forces me to study-
"wait, she doesn't know you're here with me?" he questioned with wide eyes, clasping his hands to his mouth.
the older boy shrugged. "nope, i don't care though."
"your grades are bad though," taehyung said and jimin chuckled dryly.
"if you were in my age, you would understand it," the blond stated, ruffling taehyung's hair, who let out an annoyed scoff.
"dude, i'm 15, not 7. you're just a year older."
"you're still my baby bro" jimin giggled and taehyung mimicked him with a bored eye-roll.
"guess i'll go home now," the older then announced and got up. taehyung stretched his arm out for the raven haired to pull him up too."sad, i liked talking today," taehyung pouted.
"my ass kept vibrating because of my phone the whole time, my mom's probably so mad at me for ignoring her messages," he chuckled, taehyung tilted his head. "aren't you scared that she'll ground you or something?"
"nah, even if she does, i'll sneak out," jimin winked. "see ya tomorrow then," he added and took his backpack, before giving taehyung a warm hug. "see you. text me later and give ayeong a hug from me!"
"i will, bye. she also asked me why you haven't been over for so long anymore" taehyung stated, remembering the talk to his grandma last evening. his grandma loves jimin. it's hard not to, considering jimin is just a big bunch of fluff when it comes to the people he lives.
with a wide smile, the older boy then went off. taehyung pursed his lips as he grabbed his backpack too, this time not forgetting his football. he swung the bag over his shoulder on one side, while he then took the football in both his hands and also left the yard.
on his way back home, he once again, like almost always, hummed a song that kept playing in his mind. absently, he bounced the ball on the ground like a basketball, the tippling sound it made strangely fitting with the melody of his hummed song.
he was almost home when his reflexes were late for a second and he lost control over the ball, it slipping out of his hands and rolling towards the street. "no, no, no, no," he whisper-hissed, watching as a few cars passed, crossing his fingers that none of them will run over the ball.
when the street was empty, he quickly ran towards it.
and all this happened, while a black car with a drunken driver drove down the street with high speed.
taehyung crouched to the ball, a relieved smile on his lips, which vanished immediately when he heard a honk. he looks up, standing frozen on the spot, not moving an inch, as the car raced towards him.
his heart stopped beating and he felt a cold shiver ran down his whole body, as he stared wide-eyed at was was happening.
he closed his eyes awaiting the moment the car would reach him- but he never got hit.
