"mr jeon, one of the authors who handed us their script is on his way to busan. you have a meeting with him at 2:30pm tomorrow." jeongguk's secretary, jinah, explained.
the raven haired looked at her, sighing. "cancel it," he ordered, his head feeling heavy as it almost dropped on the table. jeongguk couldn't sleep, couldn't even close his eyes properly last night and that's how the whole last week has been going on.
he feels drained, he feels... empty.
"mr. jeon, i know you're going through a rough phase right now and i'm sorry to mingle in your decisions, but you cannot just cancel every opportunity our company gets because your private life is going downhill. we need something new to bring on the market. this author's work was apparently so authentic and well-written, that a small publishing firm in seoul instantly thought about us. this is our chance, it will profit our company." jinah explained, readjusting her glasses in between, as she kept her back straight, holding the documents between her crossed arms.
that's why jeongguk chose her to be his secretary, she always helped him make the right decisions and stayed professional while doing so. during his first year as the ceo, she was the one to show him how the things work.
"did you say seoul?" he asked and jinah looked at him in surprise. "yes, that's right."
jeongguk's expression stayed dull. "fine, you're right. when can we hold the meeting?"
"the author explicitly asked for a face to face meeting with you alone, so whenever you are available," jinah told and jeongguk nodded.
"okay, contact the author and tell him to come to my office by 5pm."
"guys, i got an email!" taehyung announced, his hands instantly beginning to shake as he read the name 'jeon' in the sender's email address.
"what does it say?" hoseok asked as him and jimin almost sprinted to taehyung who was in the living room of the hotel suit they booked for the three.
"i-i have a meeting at 5pm with him," stuttered in disbelief, his tummy churning at the sudden thought of facing jeongguk. what should he do? what should he say? taehyung wasn't even sure if he'll be able to bring a word over his lips.
jeongguk... the man who broke his heart.
"don't worry, it'll be fine, tae." jimin placed a hand on the younger's shoulder to reassure him.
taehyung stared at the email. does jeongguk know he is the author of the book? if yes then how is he going to react? is he... even going to accept his script?
taehyung took a shallow breath.
this meeting has a higher chance of going downhill than uphill and he was starting to regret it.
"i'm gonna stay professional when i talk to him," taehyung explained, although he wasn't sure if he could fight against his tears.
"will you be okay?"
"i hope so."
"mr. kim, it's great that you had time for a meeting today. i'm choi jinah, nice to meet you."
taehyung returned the smile she gave him. "thank you for accepting me." he looked around the building. it looked expensive, really expensive. he had been here often when he had three days off from work and visited jeongguk here in busan. the older still had to work, so taehyung spent the whole day watching jeongguk in his office, but as much as it sounds boring, it wasn't at all. it rather was nice, as they kept conversing from time to time, while jeongguk constantly made sure taehyung was comfortable, giving him kisses and more kisses, because he felt bad he had no time for him. he took the other two days off though, finally taking his time for taehyung.
and these are nothing more but simple memories, right? because jeongguk is engaged to someone. of course, long distance relationships are hard and taehyung sometimes feared something would happened during the time he was gone. but then he always brushed these thoughts off, because never in his life did he think jeongguk would cheat on him. he had trusted jeongguk with his whole life.
he saved it once, why did he destroy it now?
"mr. jeon's office is on the seventh floor, should i bring you there?" jinah's voice interrupted taehyung's train of thoughts. the nervousness hit him like a wave of icy water once hearing that name.
taehyung quickly changed his expression, surprised she didn't recognize him. "it's fine, i'm sure, i'll find my way," he smiled politely, successfully hiding the pain he felt.
he started to regret ever coming to busan.
taehyung walked towards the elevator, the ride being painfully slow as he watched the display show the numbers of floors.
...3...4...5...6...7
ding!
taehyung almost flinched by the sound, his heart dropping as a heavy feeling settled in his chest. he stepped out of the elevator, taking deep breaths in order to calm his racing heart and shaking hands down.
taking deep breaths, he took the floor he knew from last time he was here and soon he found the door with the big sign, saying 'ceo jeon' in black in a golden plate.
collecting his courage, taehyung then knocked.
"come in!"
