The Game Begins

The next morning I woke up with a big headache, maybe because of the lack of sleep. I was fully aware of last night's events. Everything from punching Scarlett to hearing that a criminal was after me. It was all ingrained in my head.

I then remembered my date tonight. It was only 8 am so I had lots of time to talk to Adyline. Just as I was about head upstairs there was a knock on the door. I yawned before heading over to answer it.

Through the peephole a woman was visible. She had long dark hair that was perfectly curled and resembled my mother. It was Melissa.

I opened the door before pulling her into a hug. "Melissa!" I yelled.

She smiled before saying "We need to talk."

"Of course um come in!" I said while letting her in and leading her up the stairs to my room.

Once we reached the top of the staircase Melissa checked her surroundings before proceeding. She then locked the door behind her.

"Sierra you're in danger" she said.

"So I've heard. Enlighten me." I said almost instantly.

"Turns out a few high profile criminals are playing a betting game with you. I'm almost positive it has something to do with your father. You can't leave though. They will know somethings up. You're gonna need protection. Someone who can offer you better protection than Adyline." Melissa then grabbed her phone out of her bag. "I have a few options for you." She showed me several men who were apparently part of the FBI.

"Uhm so how is one of those men going to fit naturally into my life. That doesn't make sense." I voice.

"The boy of your choosing is going to be your boyfriend. You two will have met in America and he decided to surprise you by moving to England. He will also be "surprising" you by letting you know of his late acceptance to Oxford. How does that sound?" Melissa said with a smile on her face. She most definitely liked this game of match.

"That sounds horrible. You really think it's ok to put me in a relationship with some random person?! Ever since I have gotten here nothing, and I mean nothing, has been real. I am literally a living, walking, breathing lie! Besides, I have a date with Dylan Payne tonight. If it goes well maybe something more will happen between us. I don't know! But you can't tell me who to date. That's just too far. I'm sorry, but no I am not doing this." I exclaimed, anger obviously visible.

Melissa looked at me for a second before saying, "Maybe this will change your mind. Your mom's in danger. She is willing to risk her life for you and you know that. I have been communicating with her recently and she will be visiting you soon. With the both of you in one place, a huge target will be placed on your heads. Your mother is stubborn so she insists to see you. It's going to put you both in grave danger but she said she has to do it one more time before she is gone. Sierra, you are playing a game with lots of criminals. Right now they have to upper hand because you are basically exposed. Your mother also has an unknown motive to see you. She won't even tell me. I just need you to pick an extra piece for your game. It's for your safety. Please."

"Ugh fine!" I yell. I am overcome with mixed emotions. Sadness, anger, and frustration fill me. I hate my life at this point in time. "I will pick the piece, but once we figure out why these criminals have targeted me. Which is likely due to my father. The piece falls off the board. This is the gameplan: find their hidden motive and attack when they don't expect it. By that I mean find these criminals and their reason. They must have a ring leader."

"Deal" says Melissa. She then gives me a hug before handing me her phone to select my next move. Once I choose, she smiles and exits the house, leaving me alone in my room with my thoughts.
