Upon arriving, Maddox looked at me and said, "I'm not going to class today, I have some business to complete. You should probably take my bike to get around. Unless you want to walk 30 minutes after every lecture."
"Oh umm ok, that's different but sure. Hopefully, Max doesn't see me. he would not like that." I responded.
"I don't think you have to worry about him today. He probably went to the pub after that encounter to blow off some steam. Skipping lectures doesn't bother him. He put up quite the show this morning." Maddox laughed.
"Oh, ok. Well, I should get going now." I spoke softly. To be honest I sort of wanted to see Max. Just to make sure he was ok. He was really mad and I definitely didn't expect him to react like that for something so small.
"Ok, bye. And I'm sorry I can't be a very good bodyguard today, they want me in for training instead. I am going to warn you though since I am not here, a few other bodyguards will be making sure you're safe. They aren't going to make direct contact with you though. So don't be alarmed when you see the same people around you at all times" he laughed.
"Haha ok!" I said while getting on the bike. I then biked over to my first lecture which I was surprised to see included Adyline.
"Hey Adyline" I said.
"Hey" she spoke softly.
I could tell she was still irritated by Max so instead of pushing it, I just sat beside her quietly until the lecture began.
After an incredibly long hour I stood up to leave, but Adyline stopped me. "Hey, I am sorry about the coffee shop I don't know what got into me. I just can't handle him sometimes and I feel really bad for leaving you there." she said.
"Don't worry about it! I understand your situation and it's definitely not easy." I responded.
Adyline then smiled at me before saying "See you at lunch!"
"Bye!" I shouted. After that I went to another lecture that was quite boring. I had a worksheet that needed to be completed by tomorrow so I knew it was going to be a long night. I then headed over to my last lecture of the day. I walked in a found a seat at the back. As I was pulling out my notes, Dylan walked in. My body tensed as he walked over next to me and said "Hey beautiful" while plopping himself in the seat.
I took a breath and responded "Hey Dylan"
"We haven't talked since our date. Is something wrong?" he asked.
"No no, nothing is wrong I have just been...umm...busy." I stuttered.
"Oh, ok. Well maybe we could go out for coffee after school. I had a great time with you until you know...um... you were part of an attempted kidnapping." he laughed.
I looked at him in utter disbelief, was that really all he was gonna say? "Well umm I actually have a really long worksheet due and Mary..um I mean Mom... needs my help cleaning the house today."
"Oh..ok" he stuttered. "Well I just want you to know that I am so sorry about what happened. I didn't mean for that to occur and if I knew someone was there I wouldn't have answered that call."
I threw him a fake smile before saying "Yeah no, that's fine. It's not your fault!"
He looked relieved and it seemed like he was going to say more, but the professor began the lecture. I pretended to pay close attention so Dylan wouldn't try and talk to me.
Shortly after the lecture began someone walked in. She had dark hair and was wearing dark clothes. "Fuck" I thought to myself. It was Scarlett, and she wasn't alone. Right behind her walked in Max, who had a devious smile on his face. The professor saw them and berated them for there tardiness, but neither of them seemed to care. Thats when Max saw me. He made eye contact with Dylan and grabbed Scarlett's hand before walking to the other side of the lecture hall. I watched as she stared me down, a bruise from my punch still visible on her face.
For some reason I was angry. I was angry that she was here with him. I was also angry that he didn't come sit near me. Given our current circumstances I knew he wouldn't, but seeing him with her was really just the icing on the cake. Max really went to Scarlett the second he had problems. She was always his second choice and whenever someone made him mad his instinct was to use her. And whatever he was doing was working. I was furious. The whole lecture I watched them as they pretended to be close. It was all an act. It was all Max's act.
