Upon arriving at the Walsh house we all ran into Adyline's room and began getting ready. First, we got into our dresses and they all looked so stunning. Adyline wore this really nice fitted black dress and Kailyn also had a black dress with a beautiful sparkly accent on it. I had my deep red dress of course and paired it with my heels.
We then started on hair and makeup which was a bit of a process. I curled my hair into big curls while Kailyn and Adyline both did the same. We also all went for natural makeup with a hint of glam. Then we took a few pictures for memories before heading to the party.
Upon arriving I got a call from Maddox. "Hey" he said.
"Hey!" I responded. "What's up?"
"Um nothing much just wondering where you were at? I came home and you guys aren't here" he said sounding a bit concerned.
"Oh we are just at the first day of school party. I am not too sure where it is at, it's very dark." I replied.
"You are at a party with no bodyguard?" Maddox asked in an aggressive tone. "You can't be going to parties like that with no protection Sierra! I am coming right now!"
I rolled my eyes and said "Fine. But don't be a bum and dress nice."
That's when this thought came to my head. I needed to make Max jealous. I hadn't seen him yet so if he saw me with Maddox he would be furious. "And wear red!" I added.
"Umm ok. I'll be there in 30 minutes. Until I'm there stay around Adyline. Don't go off on your own!" he directed.
"I won't!" I laughed before hanging up. After that, I caught up to Adyline who was standing at the bar. "Umm I don't think you're supposed to be drinking" I said.
"Umm I think I'll be fine. You should lighten up a little and enjoy this! Have some fun!" she said.
"Great" I thought to myself. "She is supposed to be doing her job and watching me, but instead she's drinking Pina Coladas on a Monday night. This isn't going to end well."
After some standing around I noticed Maddox arrive. He walked to me and immediately said "Why are you standing by the bar? You better not be drinking!"
"I'm not, I'm not!" I assured him. "But she is." I then pointed to Adyline who was no longer sober. Maddox rolled his eyes before pulling me to the side. He was super close to me and the air felt tense. It was a bit uncomfortable yet very comfortable at the same time. I may have been sober, but I definitely couldn't think with Maddox this close to me. "Zara why are we matching. Max is going to kill me! I knew something was up with this whole wear red thing! What were you thinking!" he whispered heavily.
"Umm so maybe I wasn't thinking. But you look handsome! Maybe he won't notice, or better yet he'll get jealous!" I replied. I was coming to the realization that this wasn't the best idea.
"Zara I am not here to make him jealous! I am here to protect you! Although I can't deny that we look good. You look stunning, but that's besides the point." he whispered.
"Well, he started this the second he picked up on Scarlett. I am just going to finish it!" I said. I then noticed Dylan approaching.
"Umm hey Zara, you look absolutely breathtaking. You are the most beautiful women I have ever seen and that dress is just 'wow'...uh..er.. I meant to apologize for what I said today. You are fully capable of making your own decisions and I shouldn't have pushed you to take a break. I'm sorry." Dylan said.
"Thank you" I said. "And I accept your apology. It's not your fault that I am so sensitive." I responded.
"Well, I am happy that this is behind us." Dylan smiled before turning away and walking back to the spot Rene and Kailyn were standing. Rene and Kailyn were perfect for each other. From the distance, I could tell how much happier they made each other. They just didn't know it yet. I couldn't wait until I found someone like that one day. Someone who made me truly happy.
While I was lost in these thoughts Maddox tapped my shoulder. The room went silent as Max walked in with Scarlett at his side. He was matching with her and both were wearing red. My red.
I was so mad. but I didn't say anything out loud. I kept silent as I watched Max. He looked amazing and everything about him intrigued me. The confidence in his walk, the mischievous smile on his face, and the way he held Scarlett's hand. It looked so perfect. I couldn't help but feel jealousy. I wanted to be the one by his side more than ever right now. Maddox sensed this and gripped my hand. Just as this happened Max saw me. We made eye contact and it was very intense. His eyes fell down to my hand interlocked with Maddox's and his confidence faded. He loosened his grip on Scarlett's hand for a second before grabbing it even tighter. He was jealous and I could tell. My plan was working. I was beating him at his own game, but this was only round one.
