I then exited the room and met Adyline who was sitting on a small chair.
"How'd it go?" she asked.
"Not very good" I responded looking down. "I couldn't offer much help since I can't remember anything"
Adyline frowned but quickly changed her tone. "That's fine. Don't worry about it. You'll remember eventually. Besides we need to head over to Max's place right now."
I nodded, then following Adyline out of the building.
We got into her car and drove until we were met by this beautiful home. I took in every detail and made sure to think hard. I needed to know if this place was familiar.
Adyline parked in the long driveway and said "Ready?"
I took a deep breath and said "Yeah"
We walked to the door and rang the doorbell. After a minute we heard footsteps approaching.
The man from the hospital answered the door.
He looked at Adyline and seemed as if he was about to speak. Then his eyes shifted to me. "You..can't be here" he said.
Immediately the alcohol on his breath was obvious.
"Really Max. Now you drink alcohol to cope with the fact that you lost Zara?" Adyline said harshly. "Anyways we are coming in and you're talking to her. You have to help us. Help..help her."
She then looked at me.
I couldn't take my eyes off of Max and I noticed it was the same for him.
Soon a voice from inside broke the tension in the intense gaze.
"Max what's taking you so long?" a woman's voice shouted.
The man looked at Adyline and said "You need to take her home...now"
Before he could close the door a girl in dark clothing appeared. She locked eyes with me and said "Oh hi Zara. What a pleasure seeing you. I heard about your little...incident."
She then smiled.
"What a shame"
The sarcasm was obvious.
"That's enough Scarlett go back inside I'm coming," said Max.
"Ok babe" she said before giving him a kiss and looking at me with an evil little grin.
For some reason, rage filled my body. I didn't know why, but this girl made me angry.
"Gross" Adyline mumbled next to me.
I was furious. Furious for a reason I didn't know of.
"This was a mistake. I'm leaving." I said before turning around quickly and storming to the car.
As I was walking I heard Adyline say "Nice going idiot. You pissed her off because you can't keep it in your pants. What were you thinking even considering going back to Scarlett. The girl you love just left for the third time and instead of being a man about it, you act like a child. She needs you right now. You were the closest to her before the accident. The only hope of her memory coming back is you."
I sat in the car slammed the door shut and sunk my head into my arms. This was extremely frustrating. I didn't know what was going on and neither did anyone around me. I felt hurt and in pain, but I didn't know why. Nothing felt right.
That's when I noticed the tears streaming down my face. Tears of frustration and anger.
However, once the door opened a new feeling took over the car. I felt safe and the frustration left my body. I looked up and saw Max. The boy from the hospital and possibly the one from my past sitting beside me in the driver's seat.
He observed me quietly and then pulled me into a hug when he saw the tears.
"I'm sorry this is all my fault," he said under his breath.
"Wheres Adyline?" I asked.
"She's outside. I told her to take my car if she needs to. I have a feeling this talk is going to take a while" he said while sitting back up.
