I woke up to the sound of Adyline knocking on my door. I sighed before forcing myself to get up.
"Hey! It's the first day of college!" she exclaimed.
"Yeah, it is I guess" I yawned.
Adyline laughed before saying "I am going to the coffee shop with Rene and Kailyn before school! Wanna come? Maybe it will wake you up a bit."
"I am actually really tired, but coffee might be good. When are you guys leaving?" I asked.
"In about 30 minutes so if you want to join just let me know after you get ready. I'm about to ask Maddox if he wants to go to." Adyline responded.
"Oh ok, sounds like you are cool with him again?" I probed. This might've been a reach, but I tended to always press on.
"Yeah, we are. He talked to me last night and I didn't tell him about my case or any of my dozens of other secrets so I shouldn't really be mad at him for doing the same thing. He is just doing his job and me not knowing about it tells me he is doing great! I just hope Max never finds out. It would hurt him to know that his best friend and now ex-girlfriend both work for the FBI. He doesn't deserve that." Adyline voiced.
"Yeah, you're right. Well...um I'm going to get ready now and I guess I will come to get coffee with you guys. It should be fun. I'll be down in 30!" I said energetically. I was still so tired, but hearing Max's name woke me up to an extent. He had that effect on me. Also, the fact that Maddox was going to accompany me today felt great.
"Sounds good!" Adyline yelled as she hurried down the stairs. "I think I burnt my eggs like you did that one day!"
I laughed before closing my door and beginning to get ready.
About 20 minutes later I was ready to go. I was proud of myself because I somehow managed to look decent in a short amount of time. I had my puffer coat and a Nike hoodie on underneath paired with some black Nike pro leggings. I choose to straighten my hair and wear my favorite pair of white Nike 270s, which completed my outfit.
I then looked in the mirror and everything just hit me. I had come so far. I had left my old life behind and entered a world full of danger and chaos. I had become Zara and made her part of the lives of so many. She had friends. She had enemies. And she even met a boy who wasn't who she expected. She actually met three to be precise, but only one stood out. Sure Dylan was perfect at first, but he was the worst out of the pack. And maybe Maddox was starting to play a large role in Zara's life, but he was a bit too plain. To similar to boys back home. Max however was intriguing. He was a mystery and had secrets that he hid well. He was like a block of ice, cold. But he just needed someone to melt his heart. He needed someone that would help him and trust him. Someone who wasn't as different from him as Adyline was. He needed Zara. Maybe even Sierra. He needed the girl with secrets who wasn't afraid of death. He needed the girl that was Sierra and became Zara. The problem was, was Sierra able to accept this? Was Sierra ready to let someone in?
She never had before, and boy were things going to change if she did.
