I looked at Max and said "Did...you....sh...oot... him?"
He just looked at me cooly without moving. He was looking for bruises on my body and saw the ones on my wrists. The guard had squeezed my wrists pretty hard and I would be lying if I said that it didn't hurt. The damage also formed pretty fast which was uncommon. Max looked down at the guard once more and kicked his limp body really hard.
"Max he's dead! Why would you kick him!" I screamed.
"He hurt you. I would've shot him again, but I only have two more bullets and there's at least another two guards in here. I'm sure they'll be here any second after hearing that one." Max laughed.
I cringed at the sight. Max was crazy. We were supposed to do our part and alert the other team so they could secure Maddox. Nowhere in our job description did it say to kill the guards. That job was for Dave and Mary. We were definitely going to get in trouble for this.
Adyline looked concerned and said "That wasn't supposed to happen, but in our defense, we didn't know that they had creeps for guards. We need to come up with a new plan. The other guards will be here any second. I think that Zara and I should go look for Maddox. Max, you should make sure there are no guards in our path. If there are..I...I guess you could shoot them. You aren't going to have enough bullets though so I'm going to call my parents. They can help you with 'the cleanup' since that was their part anyways. Once we locate Maddox I'll call team two for the rescue. Then we will guard the premises while the rescue is being completed. Maddox has to be in here somewhere."
"I think that's a good idea" I whispered.
Max looked at me nodded and we were on our way.
We walked through the hallway and noticed a guard standing in front one of the doors. "He must be behind that one" I whispered.
Max whispered "I'll just knock him out. He's lightwork". Adyline laughed as Max went up to the guard. The guard reached for his gun, but it was to late. Max hit him with a hard swing to the face. The man collapsed and Max grabbed his gun and threw it to me. "An extra"
I looked at the gun in my hands and said "I'm not trained for this. There is no way I'm using a gun." I handed it to Adyline who happily took it.
"This is going to be fun" she said while inspecting it.
Max looked at me and said "I guess I'll have to teach you someday. You don't know how to use a gun and people have been trying to kidnap you. Actually, you were kidnapped at a point if you don't remember"
I ignored his response and moved closer to the door.
Max looked at Adyline and said "I didn't take you as someone who knew how to use a gun. Let alone get excited when given one. But again, I didn't really know anything about you."
Adyline looked at him with a bit of sadness in her eyes. Max finding out about her secrets was probably not a fun conversation. I can't imagine the way Max felt when he saw Adyline in the training facility for the first time.
Max then noticed me about to open the door. "Zara don't touch it! You've got fingerprints and latex gloves won't help. Use this." He handed me a liquid. "Put it on the handle then you can open it. Then in five minutes when it drys your print won't be traceable"
"Cool" I whispered. This was actually fascinating. I used the liquid and opened the door. Then I handed it back to Max.
We walked through the door and that's when I saw him.
