First, we walked around the building and scanned the premises. It was empty besides a single guard sleeping in his car. "What a great guard" Max smirked.
Adyline laughed and I was still annoyed at him, but I can't deny that his comment lightened the mood. It was getting dark and we didn't have much time. "We need to get inside" Adyline said while looking for a window. She then pointed to an open window. "These guards really suck" she laughed. "Max pick me up and I'll crawl into the window. Then I'll open the door."
Max nodded and lifted her up. She grabbed the ledge and managed to pull herself up and into the building. "Look at that core strength!" I laughed.
Adyline smiled and said, "I'm going to try and open the door without getting caught. If I don't open it in five minutes then you know I'm in trouble"
Max and I both nodded and began walking to the back door. Max was walking very close to me and I knew he was going to tease me again. "Stop" I giggled.
He smiled and said "What?"
"You know what!" I responded. "We need to focus"
He smiled and got even closer. Suddenly he pushed me against the wall and was very close to me. "What was that for?" I tried to whisper, but he crashed his lips onto mine. That's when I noticed the light. A guard was approaching us. "He's smart" I thought. "It's a distraction. The guard won't question this."
The light then faded away and Max pulled back "Sorry it was for professional purposes only" he laughed. "You would probably rather kiss me than get questioned and possibly blow the mission because of a guard. Besides, you seemed to enjoy it"
I rolled my eyes and said "Don't do that again"
"Don't tell me what to do" he whispered in my ear.
"I hate you!" I said while brushing the debris off my dress.
"I know" he responded. "Can you go back to being you without the disguise? I don't like it anymore. It hurts to look at. I feel like I just kissed someone who isn't Zara twice. It hurts" he cringed.
"Hey! Don't be mean!" I scolded. "And besides when does kissing other girls bother you? It's not like we are a thing. I told you this once and I'll say it again, I would never date you. We aren't made for each other. I've also said this a hundred times, but you're also wayyy too toxic and bipolar for my liking"
"Yet you still respond to my touch and tense when I'm around. What a coincidence." Max muttered. As he said this Adyline opened the door.
"Get in" she whispered.
I looked at Max one more time before walking in. He was right. His presence affected me. What was wrong with me?
Upon walking in I saw a similar layout to the building I was trapped in.
It was definitely abandoned and machinery and metal were everywhere. There was a hallway with doors and behind one of them would be another hallway with a cell. Maddox would probably be in there. There were also three guards in the building. "More guards here than I had" I said annoyed. "Was I not 'valuable' enough for them to at least guard properly?"
Max and Adyline both laughed a little. "You are very valuable" Max laughed.
"I agree" Adyline snickered.
I ignored them and walked to the hallway. Unfortunately, I forgot about the guards. Max and Adyline tried to get me to turn back around, but it was too late.
"You! What are you doing here!" A guard yelled while walking towards me.
"Oh no" I thought. "Time to put on a show. And it's gotta be good. I'm not trying to get killed".
"Ohhh hellooo" I said while slurring my words. I thought maybe appearing to be drunk would save me the explanation. "You are looking great Mr. umm guard guy."
The man was confused, but he smiled once he realized I was drunk. "Well look what we have here. What's a pretty girl like you doing in a building like this? You can't just wander in here and expect to be safe. There are consequences for these types of action you know."
"Oooo consequences. I like....conse....quences." I mumbled. This was by far the most uncomfortable thing I had done.
The guard laughed and said "Well maybe we should start off with your first punishment." He then came close to my face and tried pulling me into a kiss. I backed up and he said "What's wrong? Can't do what you're told?" Immediately I tensed as he pushed me against the wall closest to us. I felt hopeless, scared, and trapped. This was a mistake. As he was going to try and force another kiss there was a loud gunshot. The man winced in pain and fell to the ground before me. "Oh my god...he's dead" I whispered to myself. It was the most terrifying yet relieving thing I had ever seen. I was scared of what might've happened if he wasn't shot. While I stood there in shock Adyline ran to me. She pulled me into a hug and walked me away from the body. I was shaking. I watched a man drop dead in front of me. That man was no good and probably worked for my father, but he was still human. I looked up from Adyline's embrace and saw Max standing before us, looking at me with his infamous stare, holding a gun low by his waist.
