I grabbed the keys from Adyline's hand and walked towards the driver's side door of the car. Max blocked it and whispered "I'm driving" in my ear. It sent shivers down my spine. I handed him the keys and opened the back door. "Sit shotgun" he said while looking at me. I looked at Adyline who pushed me forward with a smile. I rolled my eyes and sat in the front beside him. He glanced at me quickly and smiled while facing forward. I blushed and tried to cover it up by looking out the window.
"You can tell?" I whispered.
"Of course I can" he smirked. "Adyline can you be my GPS? I might be kind of lost".
Adyline laughed and said "Sure"
We then drove for what felt like ever. I couldn't help but notice the tension between Max and I. I could tell that Adyline noticed it and it was making her uncomfortable. She was his ex after all. Even if it was purely for a mission, she still engaged in the relationship. There had to have been feelings involved.
Soon we arrived and I could see the ocean in the distance. "The building looks similar to the one I was taken to so Max should have an easy time navigating it" I said.
"Easy" Max muttered.
I was obviously annoyed by this so I quickly got out of the car and walked over to the water. I needed some space after being trapped in a car with him for so long.
"Woahh not so fast. I want to get to know this random stranger I just drove to an abandoned building." Max said after running behind me. I could see Adyline irritatedly trotting over.
"It's best if you don't get to know her" I whispered after he pulled me closer. I tried to pull away, but he was too strong.
"Well tell her I like her. She's a bit difficult" as he said this Max pulled me into a kiss. It was quick and fiery. Then I remembered that Adyline was near. I didn't want to upset her the day we needed to all work together. She was barely starting to talk to Max again.
When I pulled away Max looked confused, but then I looked in Adyline's direction. She had turned back and was looking for something in her car. "She must've forgotten something" I sighed in relief. I was happy that she didn't see that. "Um that wasn't supposed to happen" I whispered to Max.
"But it did. And it always does when you're around me. Just admit it, you can't stand being away from me." he whispered back.
"Stop. We have work to do. You need to control yourself. It's not like your going to stay like this anyways. In about 10 minutes you're going to be yelling at me telling me how much you hate me. Admit that you have horrible mood swings, a bad temper, and no patience. You also might be bipolar. And I forgot to add that everything you do makes you toxic. I can't live with that. And I also won't sit here and partake in whatever we have going on. It's unprofessional and toxic. Just like you." I shot back.
He laughed and said "I'll admit the mood swings part, but me toxic, never!"
I sensed the sarcasm and was immediately annoyed. He noticed this and said "You've got the same thing. You can go from zero to one-hundred in the span of ten seconds. I could probably do it in five, to be honest though." He then smirked and said "Let's go we have to do our part. Teasing you can wait."
I rolled my eyes and followed after seeing that Adyline was headed towards us. We all met up at the door and began trying to blend in. We had to locate Maddox fast.
