Upon walking in the waiter sat us at a table. I sat next to James while Kailyn and Rene sat across from us. It was a bit awkward at first since Kailyn was still a bit thrown off by our conversation about Max. Rene and James made occasional conversation, but it wasn't very interesting. They talked about James' career and how he was doing in America.
After we ordered Kailyn got a phone call. She left the table for a moment after excusing herself. She came back with the phone pressed against her chest "Zara it's for you" she said before handing me her phone. I then excused myself and headed outside to take the call.
"Hello?" I spoke.
"Zara it's Adyline" said the other end.
"Adyline! I was worried about you! Why didn't you answer the door? What's going on?" I asked concerned.
"Zara first off I was irritated with Max and you. I was heading home when my mom called me. They've gotten somewhere on Maddox's case. He's being held hostage at some abandoned warehouse. The only problem is no one knows why. He also hasn't moved in a couple of days. It's similar to your situation. I..I don't know what's going on and I was wondering if you've gotten any leads? Anything from your father maybe?" Adyline asked.
"Oh my goodness! That's crazy! We need to save him! And no nothing lately. Everything's been really quiet." I responded.
"Oh ok. Umm..anyways I assumed you spent the night with Max. Uh..Kailyn explained that it didn't go too well last night. I'm not going to pressure you into explaining. I know things with him can be crazy. I was just so relieved to know that you were with Kailyn. Someone who's actually not insane!" Adyline laughed.
I smiled and said "Yeah Kailyn is a good friend. I talked to her about Max and realized a few things. Um.er... the problem with Max actually happened this morning. Everything was fine last night. Everything was actually perfect. But I'm over it."
"Yeah, Max tends to do that. Everything's perfect and then it's not" Adyline then took a sigh "Umm anyways do you think you could be home in two hours? We need to come up with a plan to secure Maddox's safety. I have a conference with the FBI in ten minutes so I can fill you in when you get back, They'll probably let me know what they want us to do. It's important you participate in this since we believe your father is behind this after all."
"Um yeah that sounds good. I totally get it. I will be home in two hours." I replied.
"Ok, thanks see you then!" Adyline beamed.
"Bye!" I said before ending the call.
Then I headed back over to the table. I handed Kailyn her phone and smiled at her before sitting back down at my place next to James. He looked at me and said "Just in time, the food has arrived!" I looked up and saw that the waiter was bringing the food to the table. I smiled as our food was served.
We all ate and chatted a bit. In about an hour we had all finished. James insisted on covering the bill so we thanked him before walking outside.
"Kailyn I need to head home now! Thanks for a great time!" I said happily.
"Ok bye! Um James can take you home! I'm sure you don't want to walk, it's dark. Unless you want to stay with Rene and I?"
I looked towards James who nodded. "Yeah I can drop you off"
"I really have to go home" I said to Kailyn. "Are you sure you can drop me off? I don't want to be a burden!" I directed towards James.
"It's not a problem really" he voiced.
I smiled before waving goodbye to Rene and Kailyn.
We got into his car and headed to the Walsh house. During the ride we chatted and to be honest, it was quite fun. James was a great guy and having someone from America around me was quite refreshing. It brought me back in touch with Sierra for a bit. James couldn't know about Sierra. He only knew Zara, but it was nice to have someone Sierra enjoyed around.
Once we arrived I said my goodbyes to James before heading up the stairs and ringing the doorbell to the house.
