Violet POV:

"Again." I groaned at Dabi in exhaustion, preparing my next batch of crystals.

Dabi stubbornly did his best to hide his own heavy breaths of exertion, quickly swiping away a drop of blood and sweat from his cheek stitches as he prepared to shoot his flames...

.....before stopping again like the nag he is to complain. Again.

"Dabi, no. Whatever you're going to say this time, not. now.-"

"Why try again? It's not as if it's suddenly gonna work on the fifty millionth try." He retorted with a huff, probably secretly using this moment to rest his tired body.

He's breathing almost as heavy as me, even if he'll die before admitting that.

"It could! Hurry up before I get too tired to continue." I demanded determinedly, starting to swirl my hands together to form a small ball of crystals.

Dabi rolled his eyes in annoyance at my orders, impatiently sparking up another flame around his wrist as he waited for my mark. Blood pooled around the area as his quirk overuse began to set in, but he showed no signs of pain as he bore his cerulean eyes at me with a silent look of "hurry up already-"

"Hurry up already." He verbalized now, waving his blue flaming hand around in the air with impatience.

"Okay, okay. I'm trying." I grit out in slight pained quirk overuse, making my countless batch of crystal balls for the day before repeating the exercise that Dabi and I have been doing for hours now.

I hovered my crystal balls around in the air, quickly extending my hands and shooting them up towards the ceiling.

On cue, Dabi quickly directed his fire in the same direction wrapping his flames around my crystal balls as planned.

I looked up in the air through bloodshot eyes, expecting to see my crystals already melting from Dabi's flames like they have a million times today. But, instead, they held their shape for a bit longer.

A smile of triumph flashed across my face for the makeshift cannons I've been trying to develop for hours. Scratch that-the past two days, actually.

"Ah!! Ah-Hah!! Look! Dabi, Dabi-See? I told you it would work!!" I chuckled proudly, starting to control the flaming balls of crystal in the air-

"Who said it worked, sunshine? You're crazy to think that'll hold." He chimed in matter of factly, already walking off the training mat without looking back as he went to grab a drink of water.

Once he spoke his typical bad guy juju, the crystals already started to crackle and break apart in the air, causing my happy smile to falter immediately.

"What?! No, no, no." I pouted out slightly, trying to telekinetically throw the flaming crystal cannons at the training dummy a few feet away for good measure.

But, all that happened was the sound of Dabi's obnoxious cackle as the crystals were quickly incinerated to ash mid-air a few moments later, having been effectively destroyed by the blue fire.

"Aww..." I uttered deflatedly, dropping my hands to my sides as I watched the black ash of my crystals fall from the air to the floor in three seconds flat.

I stared down at the flaming crystal dust with distaste, reveling in my own broody silence before Dabi had to go and ruin it. Again.

"Well, that wasn't a waste of time, or anything. Good job." He called out from the rest bench, choosing to lay his back down on it vertically so I'd have no room to sit there.
