Violet POV:

The storm had flooded the sky by the time Touya and I returned to my apartment.

While it was only around six at night, the dark clouds and rain gave the illusion of a late night-one that definitely called for at least four packs of ramen that Touya bought at the store. Actually, I bought it.

But, I supposed it evened out, because when we returned, he offered to put dinner together for the two of us. My cooking skills (or lack of) had no reason to refuse.

I stayed in my room while he cooked, rewatching the newscast about Midas' mansion 'donations' and toying with my new phone.

Obviously, I can't take Midas down alone. But, I currently have a strained relationship with the people I need help from the most.

Endeavor. Akio. The Boss-or should I say, Tsuyo...I guess...

Defeating Midas involves speaking to all of these people again, and I've never been good at finding the words.

With a soft sigh, I unlocked my phone and scrolled through my message lists. The only person I texted back since I've had this phone was Shouto. That was hours ago and he still hasn't replied about what 'truth' he knows.

Ugh. He's never been a good texter...

Hesitantly, I navigated the icon back to Akio, re-reading the last messages we exchanged before I ruined things later that night.

A few hours before the ball at Midas' mansion...

Text Message From: Akio
I'll see you at the dance tonite! I already know you're gonna look gorgeous
7:34pm.

Hey maybe we can snag some extra desserts and eat them afterwards. Lmao remember when we used to do that in highschool?
7:34am.

I chewed on my bottom lip with nerves, not giving myself the time to overthink as I quickly tapped the call button and placed the phone to my ear.

Oh god. It's ringing.

My heart rate instantly spiked as the line continued to ring, slow and steady, simultaneously eager and dreading the moment I'd hear his voice pick up.

It's been ages since I've heard his voice. I miss having Akio in my life. He's important to me...

But...

'The caller you have reached is not available. Please hang up or leave a message.'

It seems I may have pushed my luck and messed up beyond repair.

I sighed softly and hung up, deciding to try again tomorrow.

Akio....I'm so sorry for ruining everything. Please let me tell you this in person one day.
