Violet POV:

Who really ever remembers a single Tuesday, right?

I do. Because Tuesday always seems to be the day that haunts me the most.

The storm finally broke through the clouds and raged just a few hours after I left the Todoroki clan on the boardwalk-or, rather, after I left Natsuo. I've still yet to apologize to the others, and after what's to come in the next two hours, I can't bring myself to give an empty 'sorry.'

But, even if I can't tell them....I'm sorry. Oh, I am very sorry. For everything that's about to happen.

So much so, that not a single ounce of sleep was found last night when I arrived back at Midas' mansion. Guilt kept me awake. Sorrow had me sitting in the chair near the window, not even bothering to close the curtains as I simply stared at the midnight storm with empty eyes.

By the time I finally blinked, light had begun to show in the window. Not much light as the storm never relented, but enough for me to know I'd been sitting and staring for a concerning amount of time.

Even so, I didn't feel tired. There wasn't any room to feel 'tired' within myself. Because how can one sleep when they're about to betray the only family they have?

Another unknown amount of time passed. My heartbeat acting as my clock, beating one...two...three hundred times before the soft creak of the door behind me barely alerted my senses.

Someone's here. I don't know who and I don't care.

I kept my sad eyes to the raining window as someone entered the room, hearing the door close and the sound of slow footsteps making their way to me.

The footsteps stopped just a few inches from my sitting spot, with the next sigh giving away the visitor's identity.

"You're late. And you're not even dressed yet." Tsuyo uttered a little quieter, deciding to leave the usual sass and bossiness behind for the moment.

Their concealed voice held hints of pity for my obviously crumbling state, seeming as if they didn't want to provoke my depression any further.

But, it's far too late for that.

I said nothing to their words, not even acknowledging their presence in the room and making them sigh. Again.

"His patience is wearing thin today." They followed up after a few silent moments, clearly speaking of Midas. "He was going to be the one to come and get you, but I told him I'd make sure you came out of here."

For the first time in hours, I felt my rubbed red eyes falling closed. Not from exhaustion, but more annoyance at this point.

"Why?" I loomed out through a raspy, unused voice, not having a single speck of gratitude for Tsuyo's gesture.

Because I'm not the one who needs saving. The innocent Todoroki kids-who will be attacked within the next hour-deserve the saving.

Tsuyo was quiet for a moment, taking in my clearly vacant demeanor before walking forward a few more feet.

I saw the faint reflection of their torso in the water specked window, watching the way those familiar rows of priceless jewels across their chest twinkled.
