Violet POV: ~ present time ~
Midas slowly tapped his gloved fingers against the iron rod garden table, slowly looking from me to Dabi with his mask covering his face.
I smiled stiffly at his obvious assessment, opting to stay quiet as I sat as straight and neat in my chair as possible.
Dabi, on the other hand, was obviously trying to prove some kind of point-slouching in his chair, with one leg crossed over the other. He had one hand lazily draped across the back of my chair, and the other was fiddling with one of the expensive, solid gold tea spoons that Midas had set out for this lunch.
I've pretty much accepted death at this point. On top of bringing a visitor when Midas instructed me not to, this visitor was Dabi, of all people-the rudest, most un-elegant person I could have picked. And, we we were late.
It can't get any worse.
"You know, Violet," Midas started off casually, continuing to drum his fingers against the table as he spoke.
Immediately, I perked up...looking at Midas' masked face nervously as I awaited the verdict.
"When I asked you to join me for lunch, I didn't expect for you to bring a...plus one." The mafia boss finished, causing me to chuckle anxiously as word vomit poured out of me.
"O-Oh...you...didn't? M..My bad. I was under the impression that I could invite a multitude of people!" I tried a little too hard, throwing up my hands in half hearted excitement as my nerves rose.
Midas said nothing to my words-and with the mask on, I couldn't read his facial expressions.
Not that Dabi cared, as he simply smirked at Midas' obvious annoyance, purposely tossing the gold spoon on the cobblestone floor and causing a loud clatter.
The other patrons eating lunch in Midas' balcony looked over at Dabi's actions, eyes widening in fear for what he just did.
And while I felt more fear than they did, probably, my look was a glare of irritation-directed right at Dabi as he smiled at Midas.
"Whoops." The stitched man said condescendingly, kicking the spoon with his dirty boot and causing it to scuff and tarnish across the pavement.
Dabi's smirk fell slightly as I jammed my foot into his ankle bone, causing him to flinch and glare at me murderously for the kick.
"If you wanna get killed, do it on your own time!" I hissed, causing him to open his mouth with a retort before Midas spoke first.
"That spoon you just kicked costs more than your entire existence, you know." He explained to Dabi patiently, grabbing the little, jewel encrusted pitcher of milk before pouring some in his tea cup.
"And it only took a second for me to fuck it up." Dabi countered dickishly, leaning back in his chair once more as he prepared for a snippy fight.
Once again, Midas was quiet as he stirred his spoon around in his tea, directing his masked face at Dabi when he spoke.
"What did you say your name was again?" He asked, causing Dabi to snicker.
"Your worst nightmare." He commented mockingly, before I decided to cut in.
"Oh-his name is Dabi." I said, before Midas tilted his head to the side in curiosity.
"Huh? Dobby? Like the Harry Potter mouse elf thing? Fitting, I suppose." He shrugged, before Dabi's smug self leaned forward and slammed his dirty stitched hand on the table.
