Violet POV:
"Now, let's try it again." Endeavor sighed tiredly in growing impatience.
I pursed my lips in uncertainty to his ask, looking at the destroyed training wall in front of me.
"Are you....sure? Look, I don't think I'm gonna be able to do it. I've never been known for my aim." I countered nonchalantly, placing my hands on my hips in hesitation.
"You're not known for anything, Violet. That's the problem." He countered bluntly, blurting out the words before he could stop himself.
"Oof. Ouch." I whistled a bit at the uncalled for insult, yet it didn't really hurt my feelings considering it was true.
Regardless, Mr. Todoroki's face flashed with a wave of guilty regret as he tried to correct his mistakes....looking as if he was taking it way harder than I was.
"I-no-look, I'm....sorry, alright? That was...uh, that was unnecessary of me to say..." He started off awkwardly.
Yet, he didn't give up faith, cerulean eyes still shining bright with determination as he nodded to the training dummy in front of us.
"Listen, she could do it perfectly, but not without a lot of effort. I remember during our school days..." He started off, the callousness of his eyes and his voice softening a bit as he reminisced on her.
"She.....she had to work on this move for seven months before she perfected it. She was determined as hell. Never gave up, no matter what-Look, you can do the same. Go on. Don't be afraid to ruin the dummy. I can always get a new one." He said firmly, keeping his gaze on the training mannequin expectantly as he waited for me to shoot my crystals.
I let out a small sigh at his words, feeling a buzzing sting in my chest as they brought back memories.
The 'she' Endeavor is talking about...is my mother.
Come on, Violet. He's right. You wanna be like her, don't you? You want her legacy to live on and be honored, right?
"Right." I stated under my breath, furrowing my brows in focus as I pressed my wrists together and curved my hands outward-
"Remember, say 'Heaven's Fire,' when you shoot. That was the name of this ultimate move. You've got to say the name." Endeavor practically nagged at me again, making me resist the urge to roll my eyes as I powered up my crystals.
"....do I have to? Why do I even have to say a name? It's so awkward, especially coming from me-not to mention, how do you even have time to think of saying the name when people are trying to kill you? I'm too busy trying to make sure I don't vomit-" I blabbed on, before Endeavor began rubbing his temples with his fingers.
"Just..." He started off with a low growl of losing patience, before forcing himself to compose, "....say the name, please."
I groaned softly in dread as I focused back on the dummy, giving my throat a small clear to prepare to yell like an idiot.
"Um...okay. So....here I go...." I mumbled in a bid to stall time, mostly just trying to sike my socially awkward self up so I could try and speak confidently-
"Okay, here you go." Endeavor reassured with a sliver of patience left, giving another nod to the dummy as he waited for me to shoot.
Silence.
"...any day now." I stated again, causing Endeavor to nod again as if he was turning into a bobble head.
"Preferably, any day before I'm dead, but definitely take your time." He sighed, crossing his arms stubbornly as he waited for me to shoot.
