Dabi POV:

I could feel new pieces of my skin starting to burn. I didn't dare extinguish my flames for a single second as they engulfed my body more aggressively, grinding down on my teeth as I sent another wave of blue hurling towards Shouto.

He was off. I could tell that much. A decade of revenge doesn't come without a plan after all. I'd be a fool to not study how he fights.

No, I've been watching him for years. The same way I've had my sights set on dad is the same way I've watched him...because...

What does he have that I don't? I wanted to see what made him so...special.

Though it seems my earlier, broody monologue fucked him up more than I realized. Rather than attack me the way I know he can, Shouto sloppily scrambled away and dove sideways to escape the new blast of flames, blinking his dazed eyes rapidly as it seemed he was trying to get his head on right.

A hearty laugh fell past my lips at his struggling, giving my body no time to catch up as a relentless new ribbon of fire swirled up my arms.

I'm sure it hurts. But, I can't feel it anymore. I forced the pain and regrets out of my body a long time ago.

Or...at least, I always tried.

"Awww. What's the matter, Shouto? Afraid of a little heat?" I asked tauntingly, watching the Todoroki home continue burning to ashes behind him.

He grimaced in pain from the injuries he'd sustained earlier, stumbling on his feet so I wouldn't barbecue him in place.

"I just don't understand." He huffed out, backing away the closer I came. "My brother wouldn't act like this!"

A genuine chuckle escaped me this time at such naive words. From the way he speaks, you'd think we were closer than ever. His privileged sheltered brain wouldn't dare comprehend the messed up shit this superhero society truly stands for.

It's easy to have such an untainted morality when you've had the world handed to you.

"Right. Because you know your brother so well?" I mocked, exhaling a scalding puff of smoke as I zeroed in on another attack.

This time, Shouto was ready for my next wave of fire, sending out his first defense of the fight with a giant shield of ice.

He was smarter than he looked, already sprinting away as he knew my flames would be strong enough to break through his half assed barrier.

That's it. Run away. See how much stronger I've finally become. Watch how far I've surpassed you...

"Because of how he's remembered!" Shouto yelled, looking at me heatedly as he brought his hands together. "By everyone!"

My eyes widened at the aggression of his next attack. Based on the way he's been running around like a chicken with its head cut off, I didn't expect him to put out as much power as he did.

"Fuck..." I muttered under my breath, bracing myself for the impact I couldn't avoid.

The air left my lungs as his ice slammed straight into my abdomen, sending me off my feet and crashing into the front yard fence.

Okay.

Now I'm fucking angry.

My muscles burned from the hard impact crash, but my fury numbed any type of pain I felt. Especially when Shouto sent another shot of ice to get me while I was down.
