Violet POV:

"You're the worst!" I hissed to Dabi as we sat side by side, waiting for Midas to arrive in his office.

The stitched man with an attitude problem simply rolled his eyes, slouching sloppily in his chair before kicking his feet up on Midas' desk.

This feels like we're high schoolers in detention.

"Remind me the part where I asked you to talk to me." He muttered disinterestedly, looking at his black painted nails with more care.

I felt my lips scrunching up in annoyance for his closed off attitude, getting flashbacks to our first days working together.

The past few days feel like Dabi and I have had a huge regression. In everything.

It's very frustrating.

"I don't need your permission to speak, you....imbecile!" I whispered quietly, leaning into the arm of my chair to get closer to Dabi.

At this point, I'm only doing it to ensure he hears me.

"Well, you fucking should," he said boldly, causing my jaw to drop in offense with a gasp. "I'm tired of hearing all that dumb shit come out of your mouth."

"You mean actual words and sentences!? I doubt you're even competent enough to understand the dumb....crap-"

"Shit-"

"-I'm saying half the time." I finished, scoffing lightly as I sat back in my seat.

Dabi finally looked my way now, half lidded eyes seeming less than thrilled to be here as usual.

"In order to think that, you'd have to assume I'm actually listening when you speak. Imagine that." He said with a condescending gasp, chuckling lowly when he saw my eyes flare up with more anger.

It almost seems like he enjoys making me angry!

"Ohhhh, you know what??" I spat with a wheeze, trying to keep my voice quiet in Midas' office.

Dabi hummed in amusement to my anger, leaning into the arm of his chair as his eyes trailed to my lips.

"What?" He drawled humorously, unintentionally showing a few hints of himself as his face went soft.

The 'self' I actually fell for. Not this 'Dabi' facade he's been putting on lately.

His quick shift made me think that maybe he'd finally come out of this weird, stand-offish episode he's been giving me lately, causing my anger to slowly die down into wide eyed curiosity.

I met his eyes with silent questions, feeling pathetic sparks of hope starting to flutter back into my heart as I waited for him to say something. Anything.

But, it seems I made my hopes too obvious as Dabi's eyes shifted back to coldness immediately, before he looked away from me and leaned back in his chair without care.

So. Frustrating.

I threw my hands up in defeat at his quick change, leaning back in my own chair with exasperation now.

"Whatever. Just forget it." I uttered dryly, trying to change the subject back to the task at hand. "I just don't understand you. When I left you downstairs a few minutes ago, you were roasting people with words. Now, I hear you ended up murdering five more people in the lobby?"

Dabi relaxed slightly when I began to reprimand him again, seeming more comfortable with these situations than our intimate ones.

"You were taking too long and I got bored." He smirked, looking to the residual charred bits that remained on his fingers.
