Violet POV:

"Ha! No fucking way. You really said that?"

I shot Touya a light glare as I swept the concrete floor of our makeshift home, feeling weary from the long day.

"My earlier conversation with Endeavor wasn't something I particularly enjoyed, Touya." I sighed, hearing his smug chuckle.

He remained perched back on the concrete bed, raising his hand over his head and towards the ratty tarp. "Why not? I bet the look on his face was priceless."

I shrugged in half agreement. I'll admit, it's not everyday I have the number one hero crying crocodile tears-actually, it's never happened until today.

It was honestly pretty unsettling...

"He was very curious about your whereabouts." I glanced at him, gathering up the pile of dirt in the dust pan before dumping it in the wooden box that served as our garbage can.

Touya remained unhelpful with the cleaning process. Not that I minded. He knows I tend to clean everything when I'm anxious. Thirty minutes ago, I tried to clean the cigarette he was smoking. Yeah.

"I'm sure he was 'curious.'" He sighed in content, lazily lugging himself up to sitting on the bed. "Probably mortified that his silly little mistake came back from the dead to haunt him. Imagine that."

I hummed in agreement and put the broom away, scoffing at the memories from earlier. "And then he tried to send me to a mental hospital. Can you believe it?"

Ah, yes. The cherry on top of that horrendous meeting at the hero commission headquarters earlier today. While The Boss thought it best I show up to the meeting to prove my 'innocence' in knowing Touya's identity, it simply backfired, thanks to Endeavor.

Not only did he remove me from the Midas mission at the most crucial time, but he tried to lock me up somewhere to ensure my 'safety,' as he so unjustifiably called it.

Seeing a car from 'Healing Meadows Mental Facility' waiting outside the front door of the HPSC after our fight in the hallway, I was forced to sneak out the back door instead. I barely had time to grab the briefcase from my locker that contained my hero suit.

Then I made a quick run to the store so Touya and I could have some essentials down in this pit of darkness, before coming back to our temporary home.

It's ironic that this underground hole is where we currently feel the safest in this world.

"Yeah, the whole cuckoo nest thing seems to be his favorite idea when it comes to the women in that house." He mumbled, clearly referring to his mother.

His voice sounded indifferent. Not sympathetic for his mother. But, also not hostile.

And after the conversations we've had about his family lately-that always seem to end in some sort of fight, I felt it best to drop the subject quickly.

"I just can't let him take this from me, Touya. Not after everything Midas has done." I stated lowly, already feeling my heart stirring at the image of the jewel man in my mind.

Out of everyone in this mission, my beef with Midas is as personal as it gets. I'd never be able to rest if I wasn't the one to confront him.

Touya's shirtless body glimmered in the dying sun, speckling the stitches littered on his skin like little diamonds.

"Yeah, but you keep preaching your shit about waiting until we have a plan. And I've yet to hear one come from that pretty mouth of yours." He stretched his arms over his head. "Can't wait around forever, you know. Especially if the hero fuckers plan to strike tomorrow night."
